Me just needing to vent
Posted 06-06-2009 at 07:49 PM by LostnFound
I have three stepchildren (all boys) with a Mother that never buys them a thing. I don't understand how she can be so selfish. They have no clothes to wear when they go to her house. I get frustrated because when I let them take clothes from our house they forget to bring them back.
Anyways, their lovely Mom takes them camping a couple of times a year. When they go they usually pack a bag from our house, so guess who the lucky person is who gets to wash all of their camping clothes when they return from camping with their Mom. Me!! But when I had them take the clothes to their Mom's after camping they all disappeared.
One year I wouldn't let them take anything from here but they went with basically what they wore from our house and wore that the entire time.
If that isn't enough this weekend while my husband and I were gone their Mother had the nerve to stop by our house and have the boys go in the garage to borrow a tent and heater for the tent. What nerve!!! I am so frustrated!! She loves conflict so every time I try to talk to her she blows up and has even threatened to come to my house and Kick my*#@%. I feel like I am dealing with a girl in high school. My husband gets along even worse with her than I do.
I am just so frustrated. I just needed to vent and get that out.

That's terrible! I would be venting, too. Hang in there!Posted 06-08-2009 at 08:27 AM by natickgirl

Grr... I am really sorry you are on the receiving end of that kind of garbage. I can say as a child from a situation like that, the kids know what's what. My mother promised my dad that she would buy us clothes when we needed them, and such, but she never did. I did talk her into buying me a dress for 9th grade promotion, but I can't remember anything else, ever- and that took some major manipulating on my part (and I felt guilty!). She was very selfish and crazy. Anyway, I know from a different perspective how you feel. Good luck!!Posted 06-08-2009 at 09:42 AM by bookworm

I am always amazed when moms are selfish, it's so unfathomable. To me, the words mom and selfish definitely don't even belong in the same sentence.
How frustrating!
I can't even believe the nerve in borrowing items from you guys, without you being there. Wow! And how sad to put the boys in that situation, too. That was probably so awkward all the way around!
Anyway, sorry to hear about the craziness.Posted 06-08-2009 at 11:05 PM by Meticulous madness

If I can make a suggestion...it won't hurt those boys to wear the same thing for a couple of days. They probably won't notice. We all know full well that they wouldn't ever change their socks or underwear if we didn't point out that it needed to be done. I know... EWWWWW!
True story...I sent my son to scout camp last year with a bag of clean clothes INCLUDING a daily change of underwear and socks. He comes home and pulls out the "dirty" laundry after getting a shower. I pick up a pair of socks (dress socks, mind you) and they are CRUSTY! Like they still held the shape of the foot. So I asked him...did you change your socks? No. Did you even take them off to sleep? No. EWWWWWW! I just threw them in the garbage. The rest of his socks that I'd made sure he had went back in his drawer.
So you get to pick...either EWWWWW or do their laundry. Clearly the Mom isn't going to step up. Maybe making the choice will give you some peace of mind and a tiny sense of control?Posted 06-10-2009 at 10:04 PM by Erudite
