Default BnS Wall

So...if I understood right, most of us aren't doing facebook anymore. Some of us are doing blogs, but (correct me if I'm wrong) those aren't as interactive as we'd like to have on BodyNSpirit, right? But we need a reason to come back to BnS sometimes. So I thought that maybe a "WALL", like on FB, might be the thing. I assume you all get an email when you post something and someone responds. So if we all post to the wall each time we're in BnS, we'll get the email and that'll be the reminder to come back and chat with each other. Also, if we've posted a new thread that we really need feedback on, posting that "feedback is needed" on the wall, should also send out the email to the "wall" subscribers (as long as they've logged on again...).

Is that reasonable thinking? Will it work?

So here's my "wall" post for this week:

I love Dia's new threads! They make me realize I'm not alone in the problems I'm experiencing in raising kids. I don't have great solutions, but I really appreciate the opportunity to chat about the problems.

I'm not sure I'm understanding HOW it would work, but I like the idea. It sounds like it would give me what I miss from Facebook, without all the hoopla that comes with Facebook.

Its really just a facebook page. Meaning you would have to post to it so others could see it. I kind of think it's a pain to do (I do something similar for my Dirtbike site). For what I use it for, it really doesn't help, but it might help here.

the Diva should set it up and if you decide to do it, I'll help her.

Huh? What's really a facebook page? You mean we can have a FB wall-like feature here?

No, not here, but on Facebook.

FB has the ability to create "pages" BnS could have it's own page. Those who like "Bns" on FB, could then make updates to the BnS page on FB, which would notify anyone that likes...

Good grief. Uhm never mind.

I don't think I understand what you are wanting to do.

Sorry. I'll try to be clearer. First, we do NOT want a facebook page. Several of us don't like using facebook. SO...since BnS emails you when someone has posted to a thread you're subscribed to, I thought if we had a thread that we're all subscribed to, we would get emails when something new is posted to the thread. And if we make it "generic" like a "wall" we can post anything we like/feel/think and then we have something to do in BnS even when we don't necessarily chime in on the ongoing discussions. And if a new discussion is started, we can post that info to the "wall" and BnS emails subscribers to the wall thread (as long as they'd logged on recently), so they know there's something new to come and see.

I don't know...did that make sense?

So now the trick is to convince everyone to come back to BnS and post stuff on the wall, huh?

Wall post for today... I'm having a chocolate mousse kind of day...as in need lots of it! With whipped cream and oreos...and fudge sauce. Skip the cherry....

I blog and I do Facebook and I check here periodically, so whatever you all do is good for me.

I am sorry that a Facebook group wouldn't work for you ladies, though, because it can be 1. Completely private and 2. Include people who aren't necessarily your FB "friends", so (for instance) you could get rid of all your FB friends but still be a member of a group and see and comment on their posts there. For example, I belong to the FB group for Tooele's Writers group (not sure the name), even though I'm not a charter member nor do I attend their monthly meetings; my friend invited me and I accepted. That means I get a little notification whenever anyone posts there, but it's an exclusive FB group-- non-group-members cannot see what gets posted.

Anyway, I'm flexible and just glad to have something here to read from time to time.

Hmmm...my vote is to try BnS forum first and if it doesn't work out try FB. I was thinking this thread could be it, but I can see that it would be nice to have a separate category created just for this because threads can get lost. BS, would you mind creating this for us? You do stuff like this in your sleep and it would take me 1/2 a day just to figure it out.

FYI: instead of giving this it's own category we just made this a thread that sticks to the top of general discussions. If you've posted to it then you will get notifications whenever anyone else does, too. Great idea, E!

So, if I understand it correctly, all I have to do is post a comment to this thread (which I just did) and I'll be alerted to any new comments on BnS. Is that right? It seems too easy....

Not quite right. Someone would have to also post a post on this thread when they create a new different thread of their own.

Just crazy busy. In the past week I had 3 children in 2 different school productions with crazy rehearsal and performance schedules. And through all that we started extra Nutcracker rehearsals and finished off yesterday with Nutcracker pictures, which 5 of my 6 are in. Things will slow down a little for the next two weeks and then one more crazy week of dress rehearsals and performances and then we will be done with our crazy schedule until January. Woohoo! almos there. I'm so looking forward to the break.

I failed to mention that I also got a new calling . . . Primary Secretary and haven't been released as the Cub Master yet. With DH serving as the Bishop lets just say, my house is falling a part at the seems, the dirty laundry is way out of control, and I have not fed my family a decent meal in about two weeks. I so need a break. Thank goodness Thanksgiving is just right around the corner.
