Well, if you really want to know, I'm hangin' in there, but only by a thread!!!

Lot's of drama on the homefront...we have angry sellers who may sue us for "damages" for breaking our contract just days before closing. (It's a long story, but another home we REALLY wanted & feel is right for us finally became available...we'd been in negotiations with the bank for several months and had given up hope of it coming through.) They are already keeping the $2,000 earnest money deposit, which they have a legal right to do; we just hope they understand and can forgive & move on.

We're also dealing with fallout--approx. $10,000 in damages & lost rent-- from lousy renters who took advantage of us as we tried to help them get back on their feet. I keep telling myself, "It's only money. It's only a house." We've lost a lot of faith in people, though.

In addition, within the next week we have: DS's 13th b-day & b-day party, DH's knee surgery, and DD1's b-day and b-day party. The girls get out of school on the June 2nd & son gets out on June 4th. Because of the knee surgery, I get to spend the first month of "my" summer vacation driving DH to & from work each day. Aren't you jealous? So much for sleeping in.

I do have some GOOD NEWS! (I say this cautiously...)
We should be closing on an amazing house near the end of June. It has been a long & dramatic journey, and there are many things about the home that don't seem to make sense for us, but we feel this is where we need to be. Hopefully the bank (it's bank owned) will do everything they've promised to do within the timeframe so we can close before June 30th, and not lose out on the tax credit. We'll have a little fixing up to do before we move in, but I can hardly wait!!!

This has been one of the worst years of my life, but if I can make it through the next few months, things should get MUCH better!

(You DID ask, remember? )

Yes, and oh yes. I feel like I have lost my mind. Between "year end projects" for the kids, dance, band, orchestra, field trips, maturation programs, and Scouts I have lost it more than a few times in the last couple of weeks.

I do have something going for me though. I have decided that being a mother of soon to be 6 is so good for the children. I have not had the time or energy to be too involved with any of their projects. My second grader with very little helped (I made suggestions he took what he wanted and went for it) pulled off an amazing Great Brain Project on the Titanic. He turned in his written report late, so I'm not sure how that is going to affect his grade, but his presentation was very entertaining and all the students seemed to love it. My 5th grader needed a little reminding (slightly naggy) to get his done, but again pretty much doing it himself. Thank goodness the last part of his he will finish at school. And of course my very responsible 6th grader has asked a few questions here and there, but has needed no reminding and has just cruised through with hers.

Scouts has been crazy crazy, with 6 boys recieving their Arrow of Light in the next two months, (including my oldest son) but even then, I'm seeing a end to the confusion and work with that and Scouts should be smooth sailing until September.

My biggest frustration is not being able to help out with all the field trips. My Kindergarten has one today at a local park, so I'm hoping to run over there for an hour or so, but not sure how much my 3 year old or my poor pregnant body will take.

The last week of school will be our craziest with the kids' Spring Concert for dance. They will have dress rehearsal from 4:00-8:00 or so on Tuesday, with performances from 8:00-10:30 or so on both Wednesday and Thursday. I'm still not sure how we will make it through that week and be ready for Scout daycamp the following Monday and Tuesday, but I'm sure we will make it. I'm just afraid I will need a week or two to recover and then we will be half way through our summer and the baby will come and we won't have done any of our summer field trips or anything else fun. However, since I'm aware that this might happen I will just have to put a stop to it and start planning field trips right now, schedule them and do them even if I don't feel like it the morning of.

That was nice to get that all out.

NG, I really hope things right themselves for you SOON! I've been through the hubby having surgery thing and it's not fun. Hang in there, though, it sounds like you can actually see the light at the end of this long tunnel.

Dia, you sound so BUSY! We've had band concert, maturation program, choir concert, scout event, activity days, etc., too, but I only have half as many kids as you. (And I'm not pregnant!) Just thinking about your schedule makes me tired!!! Good luck with everything...you can do it!

BW - Thanks! We'll make it through. As my sister says, "Ain't no way out but through, babe." One good thing is that my MIL is out of town again for 2 weeks.

Natick, you are so kind. I was just looking at what you are having to deal with, with buying a house and renters and all and the thought of it made me tired. Good luck with all that. I hope everything turns out for the best.

I seem to handle it all as long as it come fast. If it is all drawn out over too much time without a break, than I tend to break.

Just came across this thread today and I'm so glad. It is like the journal I never get to writing in. The interesting thing is I never did slow down. It was right after this that my boys and husband were asked to be in a production of Peter Pan. We did Peter Pan almost every week night for the whole month of June and before it was over I was put on bedrest. Uhhhm? No wonder huh?
