| Feliz Anniversário! Here is one interesting thing that happened on this day in history: 1953: Salk announces polio vaccine On March 26, 1953, American Dr. Jonas Salk reports that he has successfully tested a vaccine against poliomyelitis, the virus that causes the crippling disease of polio. Polio, a disease that mainly affects children, attacks the nervous system and can cause paralysis. Since the virus is easily transmitted, epidemics were commonplace in the first decades of the 20th century. Salk's discovery came in the midst of major polio epidemics in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Two years later, a massive child inoculation program was underway. In 1957, the development of an oral vaccine by Polish-American researcher Albert Sabin greatly facilitated distribution of the polio vaccine. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] |

runamyrun, you get a special thank from me, as that was a great idea on your part to help Mr. mamallama stay out of the dog house (though, knowing him like I do, he probably doesn't spend too much time there anyway). But regardless, we Martians really appreciate that type of help. |

| Okay now I know you are a very modest person, so we'll probably have to run you down on the street to see what brand etc they are... or... you can be a very nice and considerate person and NOT make me chase you down Also, was the son there? And did he test your foot and all that? Also, good idea on taking the shoes off |

| I especially liked the part where I might run you down or over Thank you for that information, and I'm glad the son was there so he could give you the "treatment" Please let us know how your first run in them goes and if it made a difference. |
