Default I love today

Am I the only mom who loves a quiet house? All 3 boys are at school today and my dd is playing in her room (she's dancing to Animaniacs music- funny and my house is QUIET. I LOVE IT!!!! I know there are moms who will think I'm not such a good mom to look forward to my kids being out of the house for a few hours, but I can't help it- I just love the quiet. I don't get much of it when they are here. In fact, their rowdiness reaches new heights during the last couple of weeks of summer break- just in time for me to reach the limits of my patience...

Anyway, I've always loved the first day of school- even when I was in school I loved it. Now I just love it for different reasons.

Here's to a great school year, whatever type of education your kidlets are getting, let's hope it's WONDERFUL this year!

I'm with you, I love a quiet house. I think that's part of the reason I stay up so late at night. That's when I have the place to myself...it's peaceful. I work during the day, so really it's the only time I get to myself. I often wonder if that's too selfish? To want that alone time?

My kids don't start school until next week. I stayed home today because my son is sick, nothing like following him around the house with the carpet cleaner. Hopefully he'll feel better soon.

I hope he feels better too, Char. That is not fun.

I like a quiet house too. I had fun showing my oldest today what happens all day when I'm doing nothing. I think he was a bit surprised.

ME TOO!!! I still have one at home most of the time, but the quiet that is going on is just lovely. Bad Mom or not, I can't wait till next year when he goes to Kindergarten!! The quiet then.... But then, I am trying to do fun stuff with him to make this last year fun for both of us, so he doesn't realize I want him to go. You know what I mean, right?

Yep, Erudite, I do know what you mean, because that's how I spent last year with my dd. We did have fun- it was girl day every day! But soon she'll go to Kgarten... in a week or two. I can't wait until NEXT year when she goes to first grade and I have more than just a couple of hours each afternoon.

I'm with you BW. I love the quiet. And like Char, that's probably why I stay up late....to enjoy the quiet. And No, I definately do not think it's selfish to want some alone time. We all need some of that! Hope your ds is feeling better Char.

Until they're noisy....which is 99% of the time. Does anybody else's kids know how to operate at a decibel lower than 7???

I am just glad that my 2 girls aren't here to always bicker! They can't seem to get along much anymore. So I also love the quiet moments.

I think the problem with the noise level is simply that I'm so outnumbered! If there are 4 voices hollering, talking, singing, bickering, asking me questions, (and bodies thumping around) all the time- I can hardly think!!! My daughter sings CONSTANTLY, which is really very endearing, but sometimes I just want her to go do it upstairs. With the door shut. I joke that she provides the soundtrack to my life.

Oh my, the noise. I find that each child you add the noise volume doubles. I do enjoy the quiet. I think that is one of the reason I like Sundays so much. The children just aren't as noisy on Sundays. It helps that the tv and computer games get turned off.

I love that about Sundays, too, Dia. It surprises me sometimes how well my kids play together on Sundays, when there is not tv, video games, computer, friends, etc. going on. Lots of lego buildings go up on Sundays, as well as some serious Uno competitions!
