A question for the Tooeleans

Hey folks, have any of you ever gone to the local Halloween carnival here in town? Every year we get those notes about it from school- this year it is bright orange- and every year I avoid even discussing it with the kids and we don't go. This year my 4th grader read the note himself and really wants to go. So I'm asking- what is this carnival like? Is it worth the time and chaos to go? I really really really hate crowds, so I don't want to go, but if enough people tell me it's fun, maybe I'll chance it this year.

I have never been, but my oldest went with a friend last year and had a ton of fun. I'm not sure about the crowds. I have a hard time with crowds too. That is what has kept me away all these years.

We usually go, and our kids have a lot of fun. But, we usually go the last half hour, so I am not sure what the crowds are like. Basically they have a lot of simple games like tossing a bean bag through a hole, knocking down bowling pins, etc. At each one they kids are given a little treat or prize. Usually it has been a little tootsie roll or dum dum sucker. In the middle of the gym they have tables set up where you can decorate a sugar cookie. I believe they also sell hot dogs and other things like that. The games and the cookie are free. Oh, I should mention that my husband hates going. The lines haven't been long when we go, but it just isn't his thing.
