My 7th grader is doing VERY well. I was more nervous than he was. His biggest struggle is having friends that are farther in math than him, but he'll adjust. Otherwise, he is loving school. The bus is fun, his locker is cool, his teachers are great, his friends are all there with him, he likes taking home lunch, etc. My 6th grader is also doing well. He is still missing Diva's son, though. But he is bonding with some boys from his class last year that he wasn't that close to, but he knows from that class. He is loving Ms. James, too. My 3rd grader is his normal self. Which means, "I hate school, how come I have to go!!" but once he's there, he loves it. He comes home happy and with stories of things he liked that day, so I'm not too worried. My Kgartener starts this Thursday (HOORAY!!!) and she's nervous, I think. She's been a little bear the last 2 weeks. I can't wait until that feeling of routine sets in. I decided today that my "free" time is going to be spent getting into my family history again. I have been debating whether I should find another job or not, but I felt very strongly when I prayed about it today that I need to concentrate on being a better homemaker, mother, wife and on doing some family history. I can't wait! I have 2 1/2 hours, 4 days a week, so I think one or two of those afternoons can be spent doing genealogy. We'll see how it works out, though Well, that was certainly the long answer!

My kids are doing great. BW, would you please tell me what your sons's schedule is so that my son can call him when he's available?

His piano lesson is today, so Tuesdays are out for a while, and Monday is FHE. On Wed nights he is going to have scouts, but between 1:30 and dinner, he could play that day. Thurs and Fri and Sat are much freer.

So, if I heard you correctly, Tuesday's are completely out, Monday's and Wednesday's have time restrictions but aren't completely out (or are they?) and Thursday, Friday and Saturday usually are free. I just want to make sure I got that right before I pass this info on.

Mondays just usually don't work out logistically, but we could give it a shot, Tuesdays are out, and Wed are fine until dinner time. Is that any clearer? Sorry...

BW, I didn't realize we had so many children the same ages. We both have boys that started Jr. High this year. We both have boys in the same 6th grade class as well as girls in the same kindergarted class. Maybe I will see more of you this year and get to know you better.

Today is a momentous day in the life of my family (especially me). My youngest just started full-day kindergarten!!! (I wouldn't have chosen full-day, but that is what's offered here.)I have so many projects I want to start or finish that I hardly know what to do with myself. I'm trying to get out of the rushing-around-doing-a-little-of everything-because-I-only-have-2-hours mode. I can relax a little...I actually have nearly 6 hours every day! I can actually volunteer at the school without a tag along. (They are frowned upon here.) I can go to the temple without finding a babysitter. I can go shopping without all the whining & extra items being put into the cart. I can try something on in the dressing room without an audience. I can watch a grown-up show (rather than Cyberchase, Disney channel, etc.) while I'm ironing & folding laundry. DH has already given me the "what, excatly, do you DO all day" lecture. I'm sure he'll expect great miracles now that I'm "free". My main goal is to get my life in order (spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally) so I can get my family organized & be calm when I am with them. Translation: I hope to actually plan dinners so they can be ready before 7 pm since the kids go to bed at 7:30...and actually have the laundry folded rather than sitting in baskets. Don't get me wrong, I love & adore my children. And, for what it's worth, I do wish I could go back and re-do some of the time I've had with them...but only for a few days. I really, really, really enjoy this quiet time to myself! I guess I'm selfish. Unfortunately, my closest friends here either home school or they have little ones at home. There's no one to "bum" with. *Sigh* Better go do something productive! Wish me luck.

I'm sure you'll find tons of productive things to do, ng. Just make sure you're taking that occassional moment to just sit and do nothing just because you can and do it for me! Next time you find yourself sitting there doing nothing just say, "this one's for 5ftDiva!" and enjoy every second of it. It'll be nice to know that since I can't yet someone one else on my behalf is!!!

Good Luck Natick! I thought I too would be able to get a lot done this year, having three in school all day. However, it has occurred to me, it is the two little ones that take up most of my time, even when the others are here. I have just found that the days they are gone to school that there is less double tasking and fighting. Yet, I really don't have anymore time. My kindergarten loves school. He was upset yesterday, because he didn't get to go. My third and fourth graders seem to be settling in. So, I guess you can say we are getting it done. Dia
