What are your plans for Thanksgiving this year? Will you stay here? Will you visit family? Are you having family over? Do you have any traditions?

We will be spending Thursday with my family and Friday with DH. This is a tradition started by my DH mom's, mom many years ago so that married couples did not have to decide whom to spend Thanksgiving with.

I am looking forward to dinner with my family, because the majority of us are health and weight concious, so I don't have to worry about what is being served for dinner. I am excited for Friday, because my children have more cousins their own age on that side of the family, but worried about the food. We have reserved DH parents church building and have lots of activities planned so hopefully I can keep myself busy and not over eat.

We are in Utah right now!!! ( I am waving to all you Tooele friends from my in-laws house in Bountiful. Wish I had time to visit you/meet you.)

It's our year to spend Thanksgiving day with my in-laws. That means hanging out at their house doing absolutely nothing, with 9 adults and 14 kids running around (or, more likely, sitting around watching TV or playing video games.) I will only see my family in bits & pieces, since they'll all be together on the one day I'm not available. I'll see one sister today, my other sister & brother tomorrow, and my Dad on Friday. I also hope to see both of my grandpas today. We fly home on Saturday morning.

Oh, I do hope you have a great time while you're here, NG. Your plans sound like a lot of fun.

Dia, I usually know when to say "Stop!" at the table - it's picking at the food throughout the rest of the day that gets me into trouble. The way I keep myself from doing that is imagining all of the bacteria that is growing on the food that potentially causes food poisoning as it sits on the table waiting to be picked at. I just can't bring myself to eat it like that and I can't bear to see the food go to waste so we also put the food away as quickly as possible which also helps w/ this problem. (Out of sight out of mind, eh?) The relish tray and rolls are about the only thing I'll touch after dinner is over if I'm hungry again. (I don't want to sound like a know-it-all, this is just a thought that helps me out.)

Those are good ideas Diva, and ones I follow when I have more control over the food, like when it gets served, when it gets cleaned up etc.

For dinner at my in-laws it doesn't take much for me to overeat, because of how they fix their food. I can walk away from the table still hungry and still would have eaten to many calories and fat and not near as much fiber as I should. I'm bringing a veggie tray and making a few other healthier options to replace the most tempting of foods that will be there, so I won't feel deprived or hungry. It is a lot of work for me, but I'm doing so good right now I really don't want to blow it on one day of indulgence.

Diva, I sure hope you made it safely. I hated leaving you and RAR at the library today. When I went to leave and take my DS home he told me he felt better so I came back. Then, later he told me he was doing better, because he thrown up again and I just knew I needed to get him home. He is such a homebody and I know how hard it is to be sick and not be home. Anyway I hope you ladies didn't stay to late. Thanks for helping out. I know that Mrs. Palmer was very grateful.
