| Re: Web Site Traffic From what I understand, tags are key words used to describe the content of each thread. We have to type the tags in, they don't just appear. For example, there may be several different threads that relate to 'parenting' and if you were to type in 'parenting' in the forum page, you'd be guided to all the threads on this forum that relate to parenting. Can you see why it's so important to tag the content of your threads/posts? As we all make the effort to do this, together, we're creating an index for the website. The other thing tags do is allow those who are searching on the internet for topics such as 'parenting' to type it in their web browser and then they would be guided to one or more threads on our website associated w/ that topic as well as many other locations on the internet. Tagging is simply typing in the key words for the content of our threads and/or posts. The tag box is located just above each thread. You can also add more later as the thread begins to take on a life of it's own. Only 15 tags can be added at one time but you can go in and add as many more as you want later if you reach that limit. Basically, you can get people from all over the world to 'tag' into our website simply by entering key words in that tag box. It's fun to see where they're from and what people are looking for. Hope this made sense. |

| Re: Web Site Traffic It made excellent sense, and you did an EXCELLENT job explaining that. BTW, unless you are an admin or mod (like you and I) you can only add tags when you create a thread. So adding them later isn't an option for anyone but you and I. |
