Default What we're about

I have been trying to come up with an explanation that I could post that would explain to those who are not familiar with BodynSpirit what we're about. I was on my way to bed last night when I realized that I didn't need to do that. I just needed to leave that up to the members. So, from here on out this thread will be dedicated to what BodynSpirit is to you.

For me, BodynSpirit is a great place to meet other women with the same values I have. We're all in the same boat. We're all trying to lose weight, stay healthy, raise responsible children, have meaningful relationships with our spouses, and be great citizens in our community.

Before I started this I talked on the phone a lot. I rarely talk on the phone anymore because the interaction I need with other women is right here on this forum - and it's so convenient to just hop on for a few minutes. I have felt so much support from everyone on this site. There are so many things that I've put off doing that I'm willing to try now because of the support I have. For me this started out because I needed a support group for a 5K that I'm running on the 4th of July but it has turned out into something so much more!

Thanks guys, you are the best!

Forums are AWESOME. It's a great way to make friendships, help people with their "issues" and get help for your "issues". When I lived in Nevada and got pregnant with Travis I found out that the hospital there did not allow VBAC's. For those of you that don't know what a VBAC is it stands for vaginal birth after cesarean. I had a c-section with Savannah because she was breech. Anyway, so after I found out about their "rule", I got online and started looking around about VBAC's. I went to a woman's website and asked her a question about them and she answered me and invited me to be in a forumn that was for support for people who had had terrible birth's and/or who wanted VBAC's. It was AWESOME! They helped and supported me all the way through my pregnancy with Travis and helped me find solution's to the problems I had. I ended up having Travis in Salt Lake (which is 3 and a half hours from where I lived) and it was worth it! I will always appreciate the help and encouragement that those women gave to me! So, I'm excited to find another forumn to be a part of, especially one that deals with all kinds of things! It's also a great way to make friends when you havn't lived somewhere very long, like me. Thanks for starting it!

Why am I here? Well, I thought I was getting what I needed off the message boards on the Weight Watchers website. However, I always felt there was something missing. I never felt like I was connecting with any of the posters. There were always so many of them that it was too hard to keep track of any one person. There would be hundreds of posts in an hour. I have still been visiting on a regular basis, but more for generic information about the WW food plan and looking for recipes and such. I love this more intimate forum. One where I know and have already establish some kind of relationship with some of the people here. I have to admit I get frustrated at times, because I feel like I should know who a poster is and can't quite figure it out. Yet, it adds a little excitement and mystery to it too.

So in a way this has given me what the WW site could; weight loss support, relationship support, food and excercise ideas, with all the stuff it couldn't; safety of knowing that no obscene language or inappropriate graphic information was given out and at a more personal level.

I totally agree about knowing the site will be "Rated G". It's a huge comfort! It's like sending your kids off to play at a house where you know the parents vs. sending your kids to off to play at a house where you've never met the parents or the child.

A huge clue that said this place was great for me was that I stopped talking on the phone - almost all together. This place is convenient and yet, up close and personal. Who'da thunk?

I certainly didn't. I had no idea what this would turn into, but I think it's moving along very nicely, and I'm glad it's here for everyone to enjoy.

My sister told me about this and it has been awesome. I love reading what others have to say and what is going on in their lives. There is such diversity here as well. I am a mother of one but others have their children grown. So they can give me advice that some of my friends here (Philly) can't. We can give and get advice in the perfect atmosphere. There is no judging just support. Anyway, I have loved it. Thank you for setting it up for us.

You kidding, it's been just as much for for me as anyone. I am however very happy everyone is having a good time and it's serving a purpose that's for sure.

I most appreciate that the common thread of regular users seems to be a desire to improve their relationships and lives in every aspect: physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, even political. Most users are LDS or other Christian faith, so I love that we can tie religion into the issues we discuss without feeling like our conservative beliefs will be resented.
