What's quirky about you?

I have this little thing that I do whenever I'm bored or just zoning. I know it's weird but it made me laugh when I actually stopped to realize what I was doing. I was doing the dishes, just thinking away and all of a sudden I started humming "Silver Bells" in the most annoying vibrato. I always do that, isn't that funny? I catch myself doing it in the car, taking a shower, or especially when I'm trying really hard to concentrate on something like painting or recovering furniture or whatever. Anyway, it got me to thinking, what is it that you all do when you're not paying attention to what you're doing and you're just doing your thing? Or....am I just the weird one around here that's willing to admit it?

I am not sure what you are looking for but I am a freak with my laundry. I am not a neat freak or control freak in any sort of way but my laundry HAS to be done by me a certain way. Anytime I get help doing the laundry I cringe. I know I have issues!

I hum christmas music too. Yep. I'm not even sure I know the name of the tune I hum, I just remember it being Christmas music. If I'm thinking at all, I sing wrong phrases to "I know my Redeemer lives". I never have memorized the whole thing in order, so I just sing the couplets in any old order that comes out.

Just kidden about the picking nose thing, but its the first thing I thought of that made me laught.

To be honest I itch and pull out my eyebrows when I'm tired. I also get a piece of my hair and start twirling it around and around and around. I can't believe I just shared that with you all.

This is going to sound really odd but I type in the air with my fingers. I always type a line from a song "It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine." I have no idea where I picked up this weird quirk. I especially do it more often when I am nervous. I type away in the air. This sounds even more odd as I am writing this. Oh well!! The secret's out.

I have had a hard time coming up with something. Like Ima, I am a major freak about my laundry. From what I understand it has even been the topic of conversation at several Girl's Night Out.

I guess the biggest quirk I have is caused by most of my conversations taking place here, on the computer. I have a really hard time coming up with the right words when speaking. If I'm on the computer I will just use wordperfect's built in thesaraus to access an alternate. However, I can't do that when speaking, so I find myself saying, "for lack of a better word" a lot. Fubeca thinks its quirky or for a better word peculiar.

I'm sure there are things I do, but the only one that comes to mind is the staring into space and daydreaming. This is not during busy times, but boy I do get pulled in sometimes. Used to be all the time when I was young. I have more self-control now, though

I do hum or talk to myself when I'm concentrating. I don't think that's all that unusual.

No, but for some reason, we all seem to think we're the only ones that talk to ourselves. Oh well.

I asked my husband what is quirky about me, and he said, "Let me get out your file. You have LOTS of quirky things about you!" How rude! Actually, I play with yarn on blankets. I know, I'm weird!

Okay, SMED, I just seriously about fell off my chair laughing at your first response. You are TOO funny!

And LNF, I do the EXACT same thing as you. I type in the air. I type the words to an 80's song (that I don't even like, interestingly enough). I type the words "All that glitters is not gold." I type the conversations going on around me - just to see if I can keep up. I also do ten-key in the air, if I'm in a place with a lot of numbers.

My DH plays the piano in the air, sometimes. He thought that was what I was doing, the first time he noticed my habit.

I also make up silly songs and games to do with my girls. I usually just use a familiar tune and replace the words with my own. It's gotten me in trouble a few times I'm sure (with my DD in nursery, singing a potty training song - to the tune of 'The Wise Man and the Foolish Man'). Not pretty. Not pretty at all!

I crack my knuckles, too.
