Where is the Wheeler Farm? I'd love to run this....if my leg will cooperate by then. I think BS should run it too this time......COUCH TO 5K BS---you can do it! ...not just cheerlead! You have two months to get ready. At the 1/2 marathon, as my dh was watching everyone crossing the finish line---and watching people older than him and heavier than him crossing the finish line---he had this wave of a feeling of wow maybe I COULD do something like this.....I'm going to encourage him....if you do it BS, maybe my dh will too.....the pressure is on Are you up for it 5D....sounds like fun! Thanks Bates

Wheeler farm is in salt lake city...well midvale actually. It is located at roughly 60th south and probably 13th east. I ran it last year and it was a lot of fun as you run on the trails around the farm...no pavement....mostly dirt trails and roads...just a fun time.

Oh....and I agree 100% that BS should run it too. I know he could do it. He could train in 2 months and totally be ready.

Dang it, Both of you keep quiet. That would require commitment and dedication and I'm not sure I have either. We'll see.

I'm a go. I talked to my oldest son and he said he was interested too. I'm excited! Thanks Bates for the encouragement - you're so awesome! My running had stopped because I just plain got too lazy to get up in the morning. I ran a little the other day and it felt so good! I'll be ready....especially since I now have a date. That is so cool that Mr Teeny is your cousin! I had no idea. How are you related? Her husband did just fix our van and he did a good job too. We were happy to give him the work but hope we don't have to again. See ya 'round. Hey, is there a website for the 5K?

I'm not saying I'm interested (but if I WAS interested) - do you think 2 months really is adequate training time for a person who DOESN'T run at this point?

yes. Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and look up couch to 5K. You can or your "friend" can do it if they start right now. Last edited by 5ft Diva; 07-06-2007 at 06:07 PM.

ha ha, yes, you CAN do it in 2 months. But again, it requires dedication, and all that hoo haa, so be warned

You're quite negative about dedication, BS. Why do you have to rain on other's parades just because you have a hard time w/ it? Just be supportive, not Mr. Doom of Reality.

Very Funny BS---Don't pass this off to just M&M now----BOTH of you can do this, you're in this too now Mister! YOU both can do it! Pick out the times your going to train/walk/run......put your training times on the calender and just do it...like it's part of your job.

This may sound like a silly question, ML, but is that what you do? You put your training time on the calendar? I can see that that would help me - I don't know why I never thought of it before.

Heehee. Okay so... "my friend" might be interested in it afterall. We'll see. I'll have her look up the website from couch to 5k! Thanks for the info guys. I really love Wheeler farm. My mom used to do field trips there when she taught preschool. I always went too, just to "help" of course. The calendar for training DOES sound like a good idea!

Hey...FYI...I used the "couch to 5K" guide for training for the one in April. I never made it to week 9. I "ran" the race having only ever gotten up to week 5, which is running 3 half miles mixed with walking .25 miles in between, but add up the distance: 1.5 miles running plus 1 mile walking is 2.5 miles. Then its just another .6 miles to make a 5k. I was GOING 3.1 miles in my training, just not "running" it all, so I felt up to doing a 5K knowing I was gonna walk quite a bit of it. I didn't keep it up after April though, so 6 weeks ago, I started over. I've been trying to train by doing the running part a bit faster than I was before. I did week 4 for two weeks and this coming week will be my second week of week 5. That 3 half miles running was SOOO hard that I know I need to repeat. I got to the end, huffing and puffing and told my kids "cheer for Mom, guys". They thought I was crazy, but gave me some half-hearted "yeah, mom" anyway. It helped! Don't think you can't do it because you can! Come on BS and MM!! Dedication feels good after you get going! I have a free (unless you want the t-shirt) race in August that I'm aiming at and there's this one and there's a "fight against alcoholism" race on Sept 15 that I was thinking about as well. I need a lot of t-shirts... Last edited by Erudite; 07-08-2007 at 03:37 PM.

| Couple bits of info. First check out this website: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Lots of cool info as well as a race schedule. Here is the link that I was able to find for the 9-8 wheeler farm race: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Not really a lot of info...but that is the only one I have been able to find If you need me to make some copies of the race form let me know and I could send to 5ft to distribute.
