Today, 5D and I both did our first 5Ks!!! I hear MamaLlama ran it as well. Congrats, congrats to us all! I did the race in Saratoga Springs. It was for charity and there were at least 700 people running. I was standing about 15 feet from the starting line with a sister from my ward, which I realize now was WAY too close. There were a LOT of people behind me. My friend is a long time runner and she knew I didn't want to "run" with anyone, so she took off as soon as we started. Everyone around me was jogging so I jogged too, but I kept it slow and got over to the side as soon as I could. I managed to keep jogging until I started just a little wheeze (which is where I know I need to slow down). Then I walked fast and saw a big hill and walked that too. Then it was a slow incline up and I walked. When I got to the slow incline down, I started jogging and jogged for maybe .25 miles. Then walked till I had my breath again and then jogged most of the last mile. I managed to get to a solid slow run for the finish line. It was really glorious. Gorgeous wonderful day to be running and I still feel really great. I don't know what my time was. It honestly didn't occur to me to check with anyone. I want to do a couple more 5K's this summer because I want to get to the point where I can run the whole thing (unless they have any horrible hills) and then I'll start thinking about decreasing my time. So that's my next goal! ML, 5D...share your experience!

Congratulations ER and 5D on running in your first 5K!! The first of many to come right?!! The run was GREAT today for me too. Perfect weather and just an over all fun run with lots of friendy people. It's such a great and exciting feeling to have the community come together for a good cause and raise money in a fun and healthy way. The Tooele Run had about 100+ people. We started up Smelter Road going uphill for a bit, and then came on down. It was just Awesome. I FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL GOOD!! Which reminds me of why I love to run. It was a much needed boost of adrenaline to the bodynspirit for me. When I finished, I just felt like, oh yeah, this is why I love to run! Now I'm really excited to start my new training plan next week. This was the perfect shot in the arm to get me motivated and back on my feet again. I'm glad things went so well for you too ER! YOU ARE AWESOME!! YOU TOO 5D!! Hurray for you---Hurray for all of us yes, we did it!!!

Runner's high? Really? Huh...can I just say I never thought I'd feel it, but now that you put a label on it, I know that's what I was feeling. That last mile was just really good! I want to get to the point where I can feel like the whole race. Thanks for being a great cheerleader, ML!

Great Job to all of you. I have some pictures that I'll post up when I get a second to do so. It was great to be here in Tooele cheering on ML and 5D, I was very proud (the good kind of course), and our oldest ran it as well. Though despite no training he felt he could do it. I was glad to see the "trained" were faster then he was. Seriously, it was very cool. So when is the next one?

I'm so glad this was what you needed, ML, to boost your momentum. Glad I could be of help. I like running w/ you, there's no pressure to do more than I am able to do, and you're a great cheerleader!!!

I'm sure glad I didn't wear my running shorts, RAR; I would've hated to see the pictures of those. It's fun to have "proof" that I ran this. Thanks for posting all of this BS.

They posted the results on the web finally. I ran the race in 38.29. That's a lot better than I'd been doing on the treadmill. Something about running outside and making little goals with yourself to pass up the yellowpants person and the one with the visor and so on.
