Default Girl Scout Cookies . . .

. . . are evil. 100% pure evil. I think it should be against the law to have something as tempting as "Tagalongs" within eating distance.

I have been very strong. I have not, and will not eat. Not even a taste. I have found myself opening the box and smelling the pleasant aroma of peanut butter and chocolate. However, every time I take a whiff, my stomach gives me a little pout. As if, to remind me what it would feel like if I were to eat the entire box. Which would happen, if I gave into temptation, even just a little and took a tiny nibble.

What is your temptation?

DH's is the "Samoas". The kids like the "All Abouts". And, the ones that can eat peanut butter, are devouring the "Tagalongs".

We're just like you- my faves are Tagalongs, and DH's are Samoas. The kids will eat almost any of them. We didn't have a little scout at our door this year, so we didn't buy any, and I'm thinking that's just as well. I tend to eat whole boxes of them, too...

Oh man, don't go to Macey's. Those little scouts will get you if you get within ten feet. I'm been lucky so far and have been able to sneak in under the radar. Either while they are setting up, or busy with other customers.

Actually, the cost keeps me from buying them right outside Macey's- if I want cookies, they are much cheaper inside! Plus, I am usually in the zone at the grocery store- list in hand, very little deviation from the list

ha ha, you two have me really laughing. They are good that's for sure, but I don't have any trouble skipping them, and not buying them... however, if we had them... uhm yeah, the entire box... booop GONE!

My DD is a brownie scout. There's no way you can NOT buy cookies from your own daughter! I bought Lemonades for the kids, Thin Mints for DH, and Samoas for me...and I did eat almost the whole box by myself. Better skip those next year.

Interesting fact: The cookies have different names here...and they are $4/box! Samoas are "carmel delights", Tagalogs are "peanut butter patties", and the other peanut butter ones are "peanut butter sandwiches." I guess people in MA either have no imagination (they have to have the cookie's description in the name) or else they are so PC they can't use names like "Samoas." Whatever! I don't care what they're called, just give me some of those coconut, carmel, chocolate gooey things.

I love the Samoas and Tagalongs equally. Each year I think that I want to buy a lot of boxes of them because they are so good! Thankfully reason hits me and I only buy a few boxes. We were actually good this year and as a family (of five) we ate one box a day! I could easily eat a box by myself, so I was proud!

OK, you know I have to sound in on this one, being the mother of the relentless, award winning, Girl Scout Cookie seller. This was a small year for us. We only sold 350 boxes. The only year we sold fewer than that was 5 years ago when I was 7 months pregnant with twins, if the January weather doesn't keep you from trudging the neighborhood with your darling then the other certainly will.. The timing was not good this year. It may be our last as I'm not sure she will move up to the next level. With Jr. High, Soccer and YW coming up she will already be plenty busy and stressed out.

Our record is 930 boxes. Last year a girl sold over 6000 boxes. Can you imagine delivering all of those?!?

My faves are Samoas, followed ever so closely by Tagalongs. It's pretty tough when you eat your own boxes, but have extras to sell in your garage. Anyone want to help us out? We have Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Samoas and 1 Lemon Cooler.

Thin Mints are the best seller every year, Samoas come in a close second.
I'm always disappointed with the new cookies they come up with, but the Lemon Coolers are pretty good. We enjoyed the other Lemon Cookies they got rid of a couple of years ago better.

Happy Eating (Or not eating).

I'm a sucker for the thin mints. I love them....always have. The problem is if I let anyone know I have them they're gone and I don't get to enjoy them for as long as I want. I can usually stretch a box for a couple of weeks or so if nobody knows of it's existence. Anyway, there's my temptation.

Ok, I have to say it was a bit of a pain living across the street from that relentless cookie seller. I would just feel bad not buying them, but I told the cute little gal, who I didn't know, that I didn't need any this year. Woohoo for me!

SG - I think we're going to need a few more thin-mints! Can I come and get some? I just need a couple.

We definitely didn't buy enough this year. For the last two years DH has over-bought. I've given him so much crap about all the cookies he's wasted (because he refuses to freeze them) that this time around he went the extreme opposite. Maybe I should take over the annual cookie-procurement responsibilities in our household!
