| Just wondering. Like I said before you should always ask your doctor before starting anything while pregnant. What is amazing and frustrating to me is how doctors differ. I have heard of doctors that tell their pregnant patients not to eat lunch meat (unless heated to steaming), soft serve ice-cream, or at buffets. I have never had a doctor that incouraged natural delivery and all my doctors have had one time or another incouraged induction, for means of convience and nothing else. When I know that a natural delivery would be ultimal and induction just for convience is not. When it comes right down to it, I never know who to trust. Sorry, didn't mean to ramble. Just something that has bothered me for a while and this just provoked more thoughts. Ladies, please follow your doctor's advice. Or at least do what you believe to be the right thing. But just so you know, any laxative can do the same thing. Using too much fiber can act as a laxative. So check with your doctors there too. Dia |

| Ok lets see if I can get this right. I'm not in the mood to research it, so I'll try to explain it just using my memory. The reason why most will say not to take aloe vera juice while pregnant is because most believe aloe vera juice to be a laxative. Laxatives can induce cramping, for obvious reasons. Disgestive cramping can be mistaken for uterine cramping, but can also cause the uterus to cramp. That is why some women will take cod liver oil to induce labor. Doing so can start labor so fast and hard that it can be harmful to the baby and the mother. However, 2T of aloe vera juice in most is not going to cause a laxative affect. In fact it can help with diarreha as well has constipation. It is not a laxative, unless you take too much. Otherwise, it balances the digestive system. Fiber works in a similiar way. Taken in the appropriate amounts will help move along the digestive system. Take to much and it will cause a laxative affect. In return causing digestive cramping, that can in return be mistaken for or start uterune contractions. It is always better to get the nutrients you need from whole foods, because your body knows how to digest it. If you add 8g of fiber supplement to your diet, your body is not going to digest it the same way it would if you started eating two apples a day with the same amount of fiber. Am I making sense? | Yeah, that does make a lot of sense. By chance, have you taken aloe vera juice while pregnant? Yeah, I agree with you with the confusion that you can get about pregnancy from different people. It's really annoying.... But I guess that just goes to show that even in our modern world, doctors still don't know EVERYTHING there is to know about the body. |

Yeah, it's not just pregnancy. All the health rage just a few years ago was margerine. Butter was bad for you, margerine was healthy. Now they are saying the margerine with trans fats is one of the worst things you could ever put into your body. Butter is back. Well, kind of. There are still healthier options than butter. But butter is better for you than margerine. Try saying that ten times fast.Dia |

| Dia- I got some AV juice at GNC just now- is there a time of day that's best to start taking it? If it has a quick-laxative effect (even a small dose can affect a body not used to it, I'm assuming), I don't want DH to take it right before work, for example |

| BW I haven't had any problems with it and I started right out with 1/2 cup. I would hate to give you some really bad advice, so I guess I would say expect the worst and plan for it. So take it when convient. I have a brother that has suffered with cronic constipation and was recently diagnosed with kidney stones. Research showed that he would benefit with aloe vera juice so my mom put him right on 1/2 cup a day and he didn't have any problems either. Where as any time the doctors have given him prescription laxatives or fiber supplements it has caused him major problems. I guess I would just say go with your guts. If your really worried about it, start out with a smaller amount, like 3-4T. Which is close to 1/4 cup. OH and let me know what happens please, so that I can use you as an example for next time. | Umm... okay, I'll be a guinea pig for my family. I can live with it. I don't have an especially sensitive stomach, but I hardly ever take ANYTHING beyond vitamins and that awesome apple cider vinegar, so I hesitate out of habit. I'll let you know if anything good or bad happens. Thanks, Dia. |

| Here is something also if you don't want to take meds to get you regular! I'm always a little hesitant about them anyway. Fiber One Cereal- I perfer the Honey Clusters! Also the Fiber One Chocolate Chip bars. They also have peanut butter ones too. These are very good and very feeling. There my favorite and by that night you'll be so regular that you'll be thanking me!! |
