Default Thinking about WW

Okay, Dia. I'm finally thinking about joining WW. I talked to my SIL last night who told me that the learning curve is about 2 weeks which is something I think I could handle. Would you please tell me more about the joining process and how to get started and all that....?

TIA

I'm not sure what you mean by a two week learning curve.

All you have to do is go to a meeting and pay. I don't know how much it is these days. There is a starters fee and then you can pay in advance for the meetings. If you pay ten weeks in advance you get a discount. Meetings in Tooele are Wednesday mornings (I can't remember exactly what time, around 10:00) and Thursday evenings at 6:30 with weigh in starting at 6:00. There is a first timers meeting at 7:30 where they go through the whole program in detail and a second week meeting at 5:30 where the leader is free to talk about any questions you encountered your first week. Tooele meetings are held at the Elk Lodge behind the post office.

What I mean by a two week learning curve is that it's about two weeks before I don't have to look at my book to see what point value my food is before I sit down to eat it. At least that was my SIL's experience.

I was just telling her that w/ any new program I get started in it feels like I'm having to spend most of my day trying to figure out how to do it and was asking her how long it would take before I didn't feel that way anymore. Hope this makes sense.

There are quite a few tricks that can help you learn it faster than that. One thing I have done in the past is label my boxes and bags with point values when I'm unloading the groceries. I have also made up a list of regular foods I eat and post the point values on the fridge. It is a very easy system. It takes less than a minute to look up an entire meal and write it down.

Yes, I still go Thursdays. Are you planning on Thursdays or Wednesdays?

Sorry, Dia. I totally forgot to answer you a long time ago. I'm really hoping to go w/ you to WW on Thursdays. Right now I'm not in a position where I can go, but will let you know as soon as I am.

You oughta try my healthy living site to see if that will work for you. I believe the information is much the same, but the group aspect of WW is really wonderful for some. Although we have groups on it too. It would help you get started in learning about serving sizes and good choices and all that good stuff. Call me if you want me to walk you through it.
