Default Attitude

I came across this great quote and feel like it's been true for me and I'm wondering how it affects you or what you all think of it:

Quote:
The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total responsibility for our attitudes. That's the day we truly grow up.

- John Maxwell
I'm not always perfect, but when I pull my reaction to "whatever" away from what is actually going on and keep myself in charge of me, I do a lot better. And I do think that's the sign of a grown up: that they realize they're really, truly in charge of themselves AND everyone else is in charge of themselves and we don't have to make everyone else like we are. I hope that made sense...

Yes, it did. Thanks for sharing it. I hope you submitted it to the quotes.

P.S. I got that book, by E. Maxwell - "All These Things Shall Be For Thy Good" - I think that's the title. I can't quite remember it off the top of my head. It's pretty good. I'll discuss it w/ you sometime when I'm finished - isn't this the book you were or are reading, E?

All these things shall give thee experience is the one I have on my shelf. I started it once, a long time ago, but it wasn't my time to read it. I'd love to discuss it with you though...but I'll have to read it. What chapter are you on?

Just started. I might be as far as chapter 3, but I actually think it's chapter 2. My MIL and SIL's R.S. chose this book to read in January for their book club and so I am reading it because I have loved hearing them talk about it. They warned me to read w/ caution because it makes one look deep into their soul. (Would we expect anything else from Elder Maxwell?) Anyway, when you get a chance, let me know your thoughts on this, too. Thanks for the incentive to finish the book and really internalize what it's teaching.
