You've all heard the "I am woman, hear me ROAR!" song/saying, right? I say that to 5D every now and then when I'm accomplishing a whole bunch and want to feel good about it. So this section is for all you women who accomplish marvelous things! Share your successes, your amazing talents, and your positive thinking!! The reason I started this thread is because I'd said to a friend that I didn't stay on the treadmill for 35 minutes consecutively because I was baking bread. She said, how do you walk and bake bread at the same time? Many of you know, baking bread only takes a bit of actual work and a whole lot of waiting, so I often do a bunch of things while waiting...including reading while walking on the treadmill. So yesterday, I read, walked, and baked all at the same time. ![]() I am woman! Hear me ROAR!!

Thanks Erudite for starting this thread. I needed a good roar. I have been able to meet my excercise goals every week for six weeks in a row, consisting of at least 4 50 min sessions of cardio and 3 sessions of all over toning. It is because of this that I have finally been able to measure some lost inches, 5 inches in all. The reason I haven't felt the difference in my pants is because those inches came off the bust line (not in the cup size, thank goodness, just the band) and my hips, leaving my waist and thighs at pretty much the same size. I am feeling so good and finally after three weeks of "." somethings I finally lost a whole pound. I believe the extra efforts I'm putting into my workouts are finally paying off. So, "Hear me ROAR", I'M GETTING IT DONE! Just by side note: I sat down with my WW leader last night and we were able to establish that my lack of protein and along with my increased weight lifting, may be the reason the weight is not coming off. So this week my goal is to increase my protein, specifically every snack needs to contain a least a partial serving of protein, along with a full serving at at least two meals. So the pounds should start melting away. Dia

That is great, Dia! Can't wait to hear how these next six weeks go for you! My accomplishments aren't life changing but I have been doing the mundane things this week and enjoying them. Everything that was on my to do list got done this week and the bonus of the week is that after patiently waiting for about six months for my son to give the green light, he's finally ready to potty train and he's been pretty successful for about 4 days now. Just out of the blue he started telling me that he wanted to go potty. Yipee!!!! Oh, and don't forget my other job - school teacher - I think we've finally pinned down a schedule!

ROAR ON! I've exercized 5 out of 7 days this week! That's an accomplishment for me because I always PLAN to do that much, but somehow end up with just 3 or 4 days of exercize. I've also cooked dinner (good dinners) every night this week so my eating plan is on track. I need to get more protein too, but Dia has inspired me with how to accomplish that.

Erudite you amaze me. How do you do it all and work? Great job on the 5 times in one week. I have only gotten there a couple of times myself. I found these protein bars at Wal-mart that I really like, because not only do they have 15 grams of protein they also have 4 grams of fiber. They are the South Beach diet ones. They have meal bars, described above and snack bars with less calories and less, protein, but more fiber. They are a little expensive, but not really if you caculate the same price for a lean piece of meat and they taste a whole lot better. I also switched to the high protein meal replacement shakes made by Slim Fast. Again more expensive, but can almost be counted as a whole protein when mixed with milk. Dia

Today I went to downtown Philly to this beautiful park and walked two miles and ran two miles. Then I surprised my husband and took him out to lunch and then had my daughter back for nap time. A lot accomplished by 1:00 in the afternoon!

Thanks, Dia! Today we didn't get anything done because we spent time together going on field trips and hanging out at Grandma's house and it didn't bother me at all to come home to a messy home.

My roar...I am THREE days sugar free!!! That's a major accomplishment for me. Focusing on protein has really done the trick. I'm also THREE days in all my ranges too!! AND FOUR consecutive days of exercise this week so far...and planned exercise for the next two days. It's just gotta, gotta, gotta show on the scale/measurements this time!!! | Yeah Erudite. I can hear you ROARing. I'm still working on my protein. I think I went about it wrong last week. Because I just don't like meat I tried getting all my extra protein in with protein bars and this new Special K protein water. Which actually is really good. Only 30 calories and 5g of fiber along with 5g of protein. Like my brother says is better than a candy bar. I didn't go down an the scale though, I went up. So this week I am concentrating on getting in more whole foods, eggs, tuna, chicken, and because I seem to be a little low on iron a little bit more lean red meat. My WW meeting last night was all about myths of excercise and I learned a lot. One thing that astonished me was that muscle does not burn fat. Muscle burns carbohydrates. The liver burns fat. So I need to do a little research on how the liver works and what I need to do to help it burn the fat more effeciently. Another thing I learned is that resistance training does not build muscle. Essentially what it does is keep you from loosing muscle while you are loosing weight. With every pound lost approxiametely 30% is muscle. Resistance training prevents this loss. Thus, your weight loss might not be as much, but your percentage of body fat will go down faster, which is better for us anyway. It kind of helped explain why I have plateaued the last five weeks. It can take up to eight weeks to really see a difference so that gives me three more weeks, before I will learn if it is something else. Anyway, today I am roaring because I thought I didn't have anything more to learn about healthy eating and last night I discovered there is so much more to learn. So now I have something new to research and I can't wait to add more knowledge on my favorite subject. Dia |

Thanks BS. It helps to know it is showing. Even if just a little. The inches are coming off and that is something to be happy about. I just wish it would show a little more on the scale. Dia

I got 6 exercise session in this week!!! My tracker says that's 1800 calories burned. And I'm on top of my classes and even managed to get my VTing done early this month. The bread has been baked and the laundry just needs to be folded. My floors got vacuumed more than once this week and we even managed to take the kids to a chemistry magic show.... HEAR ME ROAR!

THAT is an accomplishment. We used to have to do it while they were taking naps! I actually have a picture of one of my daughters, asleep in my Mother's arms, while my sister leans over her, trimming her hair. Roar on, you two!!
