Re: Money Mangement Mastercard also has some accounts that will pay you for your purchases. This is actually something that is becoming more and more common.
For me, it's better for me to just have a $1000 reserve in my checking account. When we are @ $1,000 we are BROKE! That is for Emergencies ONLY, and we have to pay it back like it were a credit card if we do use it.
What I do since I know I'll pretty much always have a min balance of $1000 I setup my account so it has the features that come with an account that has that balance get. If I go below it, I get a fee. So using it causes me to incur a fee, and therefore, helps to remind us that we can't use it unless the emergency is more then pain of paying the fee would be. Hope that makes sense. You get some great perks at the bank I'm at for doing this as well (lower cost on check orders, interest paid on checking, and some other cool stuff).
We just can't use CC's. They are just too easy to get out of control with. If it works for you and you can do it, by all means do it, but don't feel bad if you can't. like we talked about in the fear of vulnerability thread, you must recognize and respect a weakness, then act accordingly. So that's what we do. |
