So I had to go return something to the library the other day and it occurred to me that if I'd go in and find a quiet corner somewhere I'd actually be able to think about all the stuff I'm unable to think about at home. You see, when I'm at home I feel guilty sitting down and doing something as simple as just setting goals for myself because there is evidence of unfinished projects all around me. Plus, I've realized that with all the bodies running around the house and not having the basement done, there is no such thing as being alone in our house. It just doesn't exist.....yet, so I've decided that the library has become my guilt free zone for the time being. I'm so excited! I actually sat there the other day and did in a 1/2 hour what usually takes me 3 at my house. It was awesome - plus it was a good reason just to go inside the library. Hubby and I have discussed and I will be going there on a regular basis now. How can it get any better than this?

I'm glad you've found your 'quiet place'. What a great idea to go to the library for that quiet time! I am so much the same in that I can't have my 'quiet place' at home. I too feel the guilt of all that needs to be done around me. My husband would be content to have vacations at home in our house sitting and watching movies all day. That is no vacation for me! ---I just can't relax at home all day because I can SEE the mess around me---things that need cleaning, things that need painting, my whole garage that still needs to be unpacked on and on--I need to be physically gone from my house to have a vacation---or even for a little quiet time for myself.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm the same way. Vacation at home for me is just fine too. I don't have to go anywhere to be vacationing

How is that supposed to make her feel better you goof ball. Honestly. I know what you mean ML. If husbands only understood that our home is our office. It would be like them telling us that they wanted to go on a vacation and then we packed our bags and stayed at their office - or cubicle - as the case may be. How relaxing....right? : I'm telling ya right now, I know for a FACT that I'd wind down a ton and smile a lot more if I got out for a period of time that was longer than 24 hours w/out kids.....BS, I'd probably be more fun - if you recall that conversation.

It is supposed to make her feel better in that Your HUSBAND is the same way as hers. Therefore you can take solace in the fact that all men are duds

You guys crack me up! My husband also can have the time of his life at home. As long as he has his computer and his game Ghost Recon. Usually we never go out. Lately we have been trying to go on dates but so far in 6 months we have made it out 2 times. I just thought how funny it is that I am reading this because just a few days ago I decided it was time to get away. I called a friend and asked if she could come and babysit for a weekend. She will be coming on Feb. 9th for 2 nights. We are only going into Salt Lake but it is far enough away for us to relax. Got a cheaper hotel and will defintely sleep until noon So far everything has fallen into place. Hopefully nothing interrupts the plans.

AP, that sounds like fun. When are you going? Maybe we'll join ya. I'm totally just kidding. I was just wondering how long you had to wait before your big plans. I'm sure your husband appreciates you taking the bull by the horns and just telling him what's going on and what he's required to do to get you there. Thank goodness for proactive wives! BTW, I just sent you a PM, did you get it? |

Oh boy... Now that's no reason to go leaving us home. Can I have my cake and eat it too

That all depends on if you're willing to make the cake, serve it, and clean up afterwards.
