| I was listening to a BYU devotional one morning when I heard the speaker talking about this. I don't know who was speaking. I do know he used this quote by Harold B. Lee. After reading this quote, I'm not sure if he stated to go to bed before 10:00 and rise before 6:00 or if that is just what I heard. But I did know that if I were to go to bed before 10:00 and wake up before 6:00 and I would be more refreshed and get more done in those first few hours of the morning than the rest of the day. I have since proven that to be true. Here is a link to the article I found the following quote: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] "Elder Lee spoke about the necessity of receiving personal revelation in order to be effective and said: “If you are to be successful as a General Authority, you will need to be inspired. You will need to receive revelation. I will give you one piece of advice: Go to bed early and get up early. If you do, your body and mind will become rested, and then in the quiet of those early-morning hours, you will receive more flashes of insight and inspiration than at any other time of the day.” "President Romney said: “From that day on, I put that counsel into practice, and I know it works. Whenever I have a serious problem, or some assignment of a creative nature with which I hope to receive the influence of the Spirit, I always receive more assistance in the early-morning hours than at any other time of the day. Following that counsel has helped me a great deal through the years.” Last edited by Dia Minha; 04-30-2008 at 12:58 PM. |

| Thanks. There is also the scripture in D&C 88:124 about "...retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated." I struggle with this (as evidenced by my ACT goal). I hope I can get into better habits to help both my mind & body. |

| If I sleep till 10 most days of the week, does that mean I can get out of General Authority duty? LOL Just teasing! I know that switching from a midnight to 9am schedule (which I was doing last year) to a 10pm - 7am schedule helped my life. I can't claim any marvelous inspiration, but I do get more done and more effectively after 7am, than if I tried to do the same thing at 10pm. I am not even fighting the 10pm bedtime anymore because I can go to bed knowing my days work is done, because I got going in the morning. That's always a good feeling.
