What kinds of things do you do to detox your spirit? You know, when you need a cleansing - of sorts? (Does this make sense?)

Music really helps me a lot. When I'm in a funk, I like to sing, play piano, listen to good uplifting music, or listen to scriptures/conference talks, etc. Sometimes I'll read the Ensign. Going to the temple always lifts me so much; I have more patience & can keep things more in their proper perspective. I definitely need to go more often.

Sometimes, even just a good conversation with a friend or family member helps me, too.

I like asking these kinds of questions because I end up pondering over them all day long. Anyway, as I was pondering the detoxing idea I got my "visual" so I could wrap my head around this. I so appreciate it when Heavenly Father helps me out this way!!

If you ever go to get a massage the very first rule is to drink lots of water for the next few days to flush out all of the toxins that were just loosened up from your muscles into your system. If you don't, you'll feel really sick. This is what detoxing your spirit is like.

Sometimes you have to massage your spirit and when you do there will be toxins that get stuck in your spiritual muscles that are then released into your system and if you don't flush them out w/ living water you will get very sick.

Toxins could be caused from a large range of things. Bad habits, laziness, being content w/ just getting by (this is a step above laziness), ignoring promptings, complaining, gossiping, letting your standards slip a little and then eventually a lot, etc. It's the stuff that just leaves you feeling a little.....(sigh) blahhh. These are the small acts that started out not feeling too bad, but over time the affects of these choices accumulated and became very toxic to one's spiritual system and are then eventually stuck until they're worked out (repentance). The only way to flush them out is through the living water that Jesus Christ offers, but not just for a few days after, but every day. When we continually consume the living water we are continually flushing out any toxins that entered our bodies the day before.

And some toxins enter our system w/o any effort on our part thus another reason why we can't live w/out the atonement in our lives. This might be bad language we heard someone else use at the store. A television or even a commercial we were watching on t.v. until we realized how crude it was and then changed it, but even the small dose of junk we got from the split second we watched it still entered our system and has to be flushed out. It's the conversation we were a part of until we realized it was getting gossipy and either changed it or just left. It's effects still entered our system. But, if we are continually consuming living waters then those toxins never have a chance to get stuck in our system because the water is forever flushing out those toxins.

The massage is going to the temple. Attending your meetings. Participating in meaningful and uplifting conversations with others. Service. Enduring to the end. The things that really work your spiritual muscles. The deeper you go, the better you feel. Anyway, I'm kind of going off here, but this is what I saw in my mind as I pondered this so I had to share.

What are your thoughts? (I love that NG asks this ever time she posts something.)

I totally agree...with only a little more to add. I love your visual, 5D!! I'm so glad that Heavenly Father helps you out in that way too, because I learn so much.

One more thought on de-toxing is to find peace. That can be a location like the Temple, but can also be a state of mind. When I find peace and let go of all else, I can feel my Spirit de-toxing and the spiritual pores opening up and all that. My favorite idea:

Call peace to you; it is yours to have.
And in the rest of peace, solutions abound.
