An idea for this year

Hey all! I was in the distribution center about a week before Christmas, and I saw the institute manuals for BOM on a shelf, so I grabbed one- it is such a great resource for this year's study of the Book of Mormon!! As I read the sections that correlated with the first lesson, I was really fascinated by what was in that book! It is broadening my understanding, and I feel like I'm really "studying" the scriptures! I would recommend this to anyone who has an institute manual or can get one (I think it was around $5?)- it is a great supplement. And for once, I knew what the teacher was talking about- because I'd really done my homework, not just read the verses assigned, but really delved into them and the history, culture, etc. of the time.

Anyway, I'm enjoying it- I don't think I took BOM in college- I only went for 2 years, and somehow I think I missed it- or if I did, I don't remember anything, because it's all new to me now. It only takes a few minutes more than I spend on the lesson material, and it's so great! I'm really excited about this!

Oooooh. That IS a good idea! Supplementary stuff is always very enlightening, if you'll make the effort to take advantage of it. I loved my BOM institute classes. Sadly, it's been many years, though - and I have forgotten a ton.

Anyway, thanks for a reminder of what is out there!

A couple of years ago I had the goal of studying this book alongside the Book of Mormon. I only made it about halfway, but I loved it! I really felt like I understood what was going on with wars, kings, who came from where, etc. I teach the 10 and 11 year old girls in Primary, and we are also studying the Book of Mormon this year. It has been really helpful with preparing for my lessons. This year I will make it through the whole thing!
