I'm really working on the Spirit and tone in my home but don't feel like I'm succeeding. Does anyone have suggestions on how to create a fun and loving atmosphere in their home? I'm interested in anything!

Yes, listen to and do EVERYTHING your husband asks

No seriously, you do a good job, it's just a tough job.

**Disclaimer** Rookie suggestion
Do you guys pray together?
Family prayer?
Family activities that build relationships?
Less TV/vid games and more time working on projects, playing together?
Talk to each other and kids. Building trust and strong bonds?

Just a few ideas that I thought of. Again read the disclaimer

When I feel tension/stress in our home I usually try and pin point the times or activities when I can feel stress the most in our home.

Bed time used to be very stressful getting all of the kids in p.j's and getting teeth brushed etc., so I made up games to make this time less stressful on me and the kids. I play a game with my kids at night that I close my eyes and guess what p.j's they have put on. They love trying to trick me and it motivates them to put them on faster. Even my older kids like trying to trick me. They will wear crazy things to bed.

We also have a shiniest teeth game at night to see who has the shiniest teeth after they have brushed. These games help the tasks get done by the kids a lot quicker than it use to. This has really helped my mood at night when I am just ready to go to sleep and now there is a lot less yelling from me. Anyways I just try to focus on what is really causing the stress and fix that in a creative way.

jadesf, you yell? Whatever!?

Thanks for your game ideas. That is awesome, my kids will eat that up!

bates, you mean I actually have to do something? j/k. I love your ideas about the family activities that would build relationships and also working on projects together. Any specific suggestions? Remember who I'm married to, I can't rock his boat too much.

haha...yeah no boat rocking. Activities....well how about building projects that could get everyone involved? Motorcycle models or something with wood and powertools. BigS likes powertools I am sure so some wood projects are always fun. Watching SX could be one. You could make a big deal. Have the boys get involved with their gear etc. Have motorcycle snacks and make an event out of it. Not sure that helps with spirituality but would be fun.....Oh and make sure to invite me Working on stuff in the garage could always be fun. Have a family oil change or something. You could also have a dad/son night out and a mom/son night out. On these nights BigS would take a boy out for a special night out. Doesn't have to be expensive either. Be creative and remember it is about the time together not the activity. Then you do the same with another boy and work through them all. Feel like I am rambling now so I will leave it at that. Hope that helps get the ideas going.

Those are great suggestions from everyone.

I'm going to have to talk to the "short one" about doing some of this stuff. Especially watching SX

Oh man bates, your ideas take me way out of my comfort zone but I can see the wisdom in them. Big Sissy has tried to get me more involved in the whole MX thing and it just doesn't seem to cut it at the track. I mean, how fun is that? I'm just watching the kids while watching him, I mean where is the "family" in that activity? Thanks for the idea. Did you hear that BS? I'm willing to do this, and yes you can take it to the bank.

I believe this calls for an I love you! :-*
