Cool You know you're getting old when...

I put this in the "let's get acquainted" forum so that we could just toss in a new discovery we've had about growing old, maturing, wisening up, or whatever you want to call it and get to know each other that way. I just had a "I must be getting old moment" the other day and I thought it would be fun if we all could share such moments.

Ok, so here's mine. You know you're getting old when you're reading a fantastically interesting book that if you were younger would have put you under the covers with a flashlight, but you close the book IN THE MIDDLE of a chapter when something exciting is about to happen, and turn off the light and go to sleep. And it isn't even 10pm yet.

You know you're getting old when you want to go on vacation just to see historic church sites.

You know you're getting old when you roll out of bed and your first few steps create a chorus of cracking and popping sounds (ankles, knees, hips). I crack my neck afterward just for good measure.

Sorry, ;-) I know mine isn't about maturing, or wisening up...but sadly, it's one of the most noticeable things for me so far about getting older.

You know you're getting old when you have to ask the kids to turn UP the TV so you can hear what's being said! Or worse, you have to use subtitles on DVDs you watch with hubby after lights-out, because if you turned the volume up loud enough to actually follow the converstion, you'd wake up the kids.

Okay, here's an embarrassing one. I opened the door, pushed the button to open the garage, then flipped the light switch in the garage (since the auto-light is burned out and broken). I turned my head to say goodbye to my son, then I looked into the garage and said, "Someone left the garage open!" My DH said, "Um, you just opened it." LOL... Oh I had a good laugh at that. My mind is seriously turning to soup anymore!!!

That is AWESOME BW! I actually laughed out loud. Too cute.

And truthfully, I do stuff like that a little more than I like to admit.
