I tried to put this in BS thread on Status of FBAND, but I'm not a bookclub member so I wasn't aloud. What it is that I need to know, is if this is a safe book for me to read? Let me explain. I picked it up at the library last week and spent a few minutes just skimming through it. I was really interested in the section where it relates physical ailments to emotions. However, it stated that a miscarriage is caused be feelings of timing not being right. So is this book saying that I caused my own miscarriages? Because that is difinitely not something I need to hear right now. Can any one tell me if reading this book will help or hinder my grieving process? I really don't need any more guilt right now. I have enough of that already. Dia Last edited by Dia Minha; 09-28-2007 at 05:59 PM.

You should never feel guilty for anything that inadvertently happens to your body, Dia. I think the book is saying that on a sub-sub-sub-conscious level we do cause illness or dis-ease in our bodies, but as there is no conscious "I'm going to make myself sick or bring poverty into my life" thoughts, I don't think we need to waste energy feeling badly. What I've learned in reading FBAND, Quantum Healing, Remembering Wholeness, and The Secret is that my mind has a TON of power with regards to my life and my body- however, I've also learned that not everything I read makes sense or applies directly to every situation. I generally pray and ponder a lot on ideas I've gotten from books such as this one, to see if or how I can use what I've learned. It's a fascinating way of looking at life. I personally believe that, as far as I am able, learning to use my mind and the power of positive energy to improve my life and health is absolutely of high value in my life. I've never been through exactly what you've been through, so I can't be sure what reading that book would make you feel, Dia. I think it's a great resource, and I've learned a lot from it, and I use it frequently, but if it's going to make you feel bad or angry, don't read it. You don't need negative feelings in your life!

I haven't wanted to dampen anyone's enthusiasm for FBAND in the forum, so I haven't said much about it, but I didn't enjoy the book at all and didn't find it helpful. None of the emotional causes for any of my physical symptoms seem to make much sense for me. I think it's great if others get good things from it, but for me, I'd rather spend my time in the scriptures and the prophets healing with the doctrine of Christ directly, rather than trying to fix a subconscious feeling or thought that the book implies is leading me places that my conscious mind is not. Perhaps I didn't study it hard enough, but I wasn't comfortable with it, so I put it aside. My feeling was similar to yours in that its hard to see how the physical troubles I've experienced are related to emotional troubles, given that emotional troubles are continually changing where my physical troubles aren't. I don't have the same set of triggers all the time. On top of that, my symptoms are pretty widespread and the books suggested emotional roots were sometimes contradictory. Dia, I'd stick close to the scriptures, the priesthood, and the prophets. And let the interpretations and guesses of others be for others. You will find your own solutions through the power of the gospel and the strength of who you are. BW is right in that the power the mind has is amazing. It is in who we are and who we were and who we will be, which the beginning of the book does discuss. Find strength in those ideas and hope in the gospel to find your way through the healing process. Call Peace to you; it is yours to have. And in the rest of peace, solutions abound.

Wow, E. I'm not quite sure I understood you correctly....you want to clarify that a little more? ![]() Dia, you have to decide if the book is right for you. I usually know right when I pick up a book if it's one that's right for me or if it'll be toxic or if it's one that just needs to be shelved for a little bit but that I'll know I'll go back to it later. Know what I mean? What is your gut feeling? What do you think? If you're one who feels guilty over things like this, I would not recommend this book for you. I think the concepts in this book just click w/ some people and don't w/ others.

Just kidding. You knew I didn't appreciate the book. That's ok, because you're right: some books work for us and are right for us and some are not. Dia, you knew that was my opinion and you didn't have to take it, right?

Diva, I guess my main concern is, do I feel uneasy about the book, because I'm afraid it is going to tell me I caused my own miscarriages or am I uneasy about what I might have to change by reading the book. Does that make any sense? Dia

Sorry for giving you a hard time, E. You are entitled to what you think and I hope you didn't feel that I felt otherwise. Just razzin' you a bit.
