Default So how does this work?

Okay, how exactly do we want this to work? I've never been in a book club so I don't know how it works other than it's a discussion and not a lecture.

How much time should be given to read each book/chapter?

When do we want to discuss things? Along the way, or after a certain amount of time?

Since I'm the one that chose the first book, how do I lead the discussion? Or do we all just start throwing in our own comments if there's a point we want discussed?

**Rookie here**

i have "buy it" on my to-do list, but I haven't yet actually gotten the written version. But from what I've heard (I have the book on CD) the author does a nice job of giving us assignments and even a discussion approach to the chapters. So my suggestion is that we set a schedule for reading a chapter and reporting on the associated assignments. Then we have a discussion area for each chapter or even ideas in each chapter as necessary and we throw out what we think is interesting or useful, and what we got from the reading or the application. That's my thought on this.

I'm so glad you responded. I was worried I was gonna have to figure this all out on my own. I'm afraid if you guys had left it all to me, it'd be a dull discussion.

Okay, sounds good. How long do you think we need to study a chapter? I think we should give it a specified amount of time but if there's something one wants to discuss before the deadline, they just post it and it gets discussed. For instance, if someone were having a hard time understanding a concept or just wanting some perspective on a concept, they'd just throw it out there at any given time. But when the deadline comes, we move on to the next chapter. I kind of started one thought and ended with another there...sorry. You figure out what I was saying. ;D ;D....and then let me know what you come up with. I'm actually wondering if you should lead this first chapter discussion, just so I can see how it can be done. What do you think?

I can do that if you want, but I think you're thinking it's more than it is. At this point, we just need to get all the invitees on board and set a schedule. I think don't you even need to set a schedule very far out....like maybe only for chapters 1, 2, & 3.
