HEY BW! I'm excited you're reading, too. I got Remembering Wholeness from the library at the same time, just because you had mentioned it in another post and I was curious. I got about 5 or 10 minutes into it, was all, before I was in tears (you know...the part about our reasons for not asking for what we really want in our prayers). Anyway, so far so good - for both of them. Thanks BS for getting this new little thing started.

I just joined this group--is anyone reading Karol's book on " Feelings Buried"?

I am reading it now actually. I read about others on this forum who have used this book. I have liked it so far. Only thing that I have found is that it makes you a bit anxious to think about your past so much. Maybe it was just me.

One note about this and all such books, if something doesn't ring true with you, maybe it isn't what you need (or you may not be ready for that lesson). I take the good I can use, that feels right for me, and apply that, but there are always ideas and items in these books that I skim past- if it doesn't feel right or I don't connect with the idea. Does that make sense? Just because someone says one thing in a book that you agree with, that doesn't mean we have to believe everything that person teaches. Pray for guidance, and you'll know how to apply that which will do you good and help you be your best, highest self. That's my two cents! |

Well said, BW! I totally agree. For the most part, I have ADORED this book (and I'm a better person because of it). There have been a few things, though, that have just not "worked" for me. And that's okay. I do find it interesting that we've all just kind of shoved it to the side for a while.

Well since I have only started I find it interesting that I am already feeling uneasy about looking into myself. I agree BW that we have to apply what will provide a way to build us up. I definitely think I have blamed my environment and current hurdles on my depression.... I have lately been feeling so out of place and unorganized. This book seems to address the path that led me to that place. I have a lot of ironing out to do.

Ironing out- good wording.. I like that... I have a lot of "wrinkles" too. One thing I learned from this book, as well as "Remembering Wholeness" was to take responsibility for my life. In particular, for me, that means from today. I can't change whatever went on that caused my past, but I can take control and be responsible for the rest of my life, right? I do believe that the choices we make have consequences, and that sometimes it's as simple as this: focusing on the negative can bring negative adventures to us, while focusing on gratitude, love, faith, hope and joy can bring us more positive adventures. There will always be bumps in the road, but maybe we can steer ourselves in better directions. And clearing or ironing out what we wrinkled up before (or what our parents, sibs, etc. wrinkled up) can be so healing! We just have to stay positive. I'm sorry you struggle with depression. My dad taught me (I'm so grateful for this) to keep going, keep hoping, keep trying, and to find humor even when things suck. He was a great example of making the best of things and keep working. Never ever give up hope. Ever! My dad was also an excellent example of taking control and making your life what you want it. He just made a huge mistake when he married my mom- BUT, without that mistake, he wouldn't have his 7 kids who adore him and make life interesting. Whew- I'm on a rant. Sorry- good luck with your reading and ironing!!
