OK, here's my first try at a new thread. A week ago Saturday I was really peeved at one of my children. I went out to work in the yard so I could get away from her for awhile. I was out there for over an hour and got a lot done. I felt really good afterward because my yard was closer to getting ready for spring, I found some emerging bulbs hiding under dead plants, and my yard looked better. Also I learned from my mom's doctor in Texas that . touching plants and dirt physically increases your energy. It was great anger management because not only did I feel so much better when I quit, but it was productive. I think you might have to enjoy gardening for this to work?

I didn't know that about touching dirt and plants but it makes sense to me. Thanks for sharing that little tid-bit w/ us. I'm glad you found something that you could work w/ while you worked through something that needed to be "shelved" for awhile.

I'd never heard that either, but it makes sense. I know that having beautiful flowers in my house brightens my day and brings happiness into the room. I'm not a gardner, but I love flowers and the light they bring into my home. That's one reason I love spring, I love to pick up a batch of tulips or daisies and put them on the kitchen table. Someday I hope to be able to have a "cutting garden" full of flowers that I can cut and put in my home. Of course, that would mean either putting the flowers where our lovely dogs won't tear them to pieces, or getting rid of the dogs (like that will ever happen

I do feel much better after getting my hands in the dirt and pulling up weeds and so forth too. Didn't know any kind of study had been done on it, but I have noticed and commented to my husband that there is "something" to actually getting my hands down working in the earth in a garden that just makes me feel good. I could never pinpoint what that "something" was though. Energy--that's really interesting!

That was hilarious Trish! I too love flowers and am very excited about putting them in my flower beds. I never thought about having a cutting garden. Very good idea.
