I need some advice on what kind of annuals I should plant when they come out?? I want something that will stay alive in shade and won't attract a ton of bees. Any suggestions?

Impatiens are good shade flowers. They are kind of small. I've had a hard time keeping them alive, but I think it's my watering system more than anything else. I think begonias are gorgeous and they are shade flowers. I think columbine are shade flowers or partial shade and I think that they are so pretty!!! They are kind of a small bush type. Those are the only 3 that come to mind quickly, but I'll post more as I think of them. One good way to choose is just to look at the store and read the labels as you find flowers that you think are pretty. They almost always tell about how much sun they need.

Oh no, do we have another bee hater? 5ft diva doesn't have much love for them either. I can't say I blame her, but bee's typically won't bother you if you don't bother them.

You really want the bees to come because they will last longer and produce more. Hey, can I tell you to like bees?! I don't like bees either because of alergies but I have found that if you don't freak out you generally are fine. I love california popies. If you want I will probably have some you can transplant in a couple of weeks. And then they reseed themselves. I love the ones that reseed. I also have cosmos, I don't notice the bees anymore than just being around. Good luck!

You don't understand... I HATE bees! I hate the look of them and I hate when they buzz around me just to freak me out! I think they know how much I hate them so they follow me until I run screaming. That is the only way I can get away from them

I know, I know... I am bigger than they are and I should ignore them. Not gonna happen

Anyway. I really like playing in the dirt so I don't mind going and buying annual flowers that are ready to plant from walmart and putting them in every year.

Thanks for the offer on the california poppies. They are pretty.

Oh I understand. I understand that I should have gone into being a therapist that specializes in Bee's, then I'd be RICH!!!!

I think I can imagine exactly how you are, as the Diva is absolutely psyco around them. It's so funny.
