When we moved into our house we had a garden of tomatoes but didn't pull them up before the snow. They rotted and I am sure it will look great in the spring. Was it okay to leave them there? Or should you always pull up the plants? Also, with the flowers that don't come back should we pull those up always? Thanks!

Have you heard of composting? It's okay that the tomato plants are still there because, like this is your first spring in your house but yeah, pull them as soon as it gets nicer outside. Also, if your flowers are annuals, (ones that only bloom for one season) you need to pull them out as well. But...wait awhile to see if the dead looking flower plants get leaves on them because they might be perennials (flowers that come back every year.)

You make it sound so easy - I'm a little embarrassed I didn't know the answer.
