I am having a crazy thought of looking into putting wallpaper in my basement. Whoever finished our basement before we moved in did a real crappy job on the walls. I have been trying to find an inexpensive way to cover the walls. I could texturize them with mud but I am not a big fan of texture on the walls.

I was at my Doctor's the other day and thought that the wallpaper they had looked pretty nice.

Does anyone know if wallpaper is expensive and if it is difficult to apply? I have images of women wrapped in paper and covered in glue for some reason.

Please share if you have any thoughts or suggestions on wallpaper.

I have seen some gorgeous wall-paper lately. But I'll tell ya this...make sure it's what you really want (and what you'll want for a long time), because...

Now this is the lazy side of me speaking here

...that stuff is an absolute BANSHEE to get off when you decide you're done with it.

I have never done the actual "installation" or purchasing of wall-paper, so I have no idea on that side of things.

But, I would be more than happy to help you out if you get some. Give me a call.

Thanks M&M. I need to check on price to see if it is worth it. I was hoping someone on the forum might know if the price is worth the trouble.

Painting is so much easier. You can always change it when you are ready for a change. If only my walls in my basement weren't so darn ugly. I think someone was a little "snockered" when they were doing the drywall and mudding in my basement.

My understanding is that wallpaper is VERY expensive compared to paint. BUT if you choose a good quality paper and install it very well, it can actually be painted over when you get sick of it.

But my take on wallpaper (and I've only ever done borders) is that you should have a GREAT time with it. If you're going to do it, do a super fun accent wall...don't just pick something that looks like a faux paint treatment because you think you won't get sick of it as soon. Pick a cool mural or something. And then do the other walls in a good faux treatment where you layer the colors so that bad taping, or whatever, doesn't show anymore.

There's my 2 cents worth.
