The boards have been a little slow lately and I have been feeling kind of lonely. The challenge is: Start one new thread sometime in the next 24 hours. On your mark. Get set. Go!

I know what you mean Bookworm. That has happened to me too. I just don't seem to have what it takes to start interesting conversations.

Whatever, Dia. You forget that that conversation you started about husbands was an excellent thread and had a huge response. I felt it was interesting and you left it open to our thoughts and opinions and I learned a lot.

Yeah ok. So I hit one every so often. Now Diva, you are the queen of conversation. You are really good about coming up with the most interesting topics.

Interesting perspective, Dia. I had no idea. What is interesting about my conversations? I'm not trying to get a big head here; I really didn't know they were interesting and so I am curious so I can continue to do what I didn't know that I do. Does this make sense? I'll tell you that yours was good just because it was an approachable subject (and the way you presented it was approachable) and it was interesting to me. I always enjoy an opportunity to understand my better half.

I think the think that makes them so interesting is they are universal. You are good at asking questions about everyday things we all can relate to. I also believe it is because everyone respects you. You said it when you said my topic was good, because it was approachable. I don't always know how to make it approachable, but you do. Take my refinance thread. I really wanted to know the answers to those questions. However, it would have been nice to just have someone say they didn't know either. Instead I felt ignored. I'm not offended by any means. That is just the way I felt. I'm sure BW felt the same when she did not get many comments on her last thread. Not that I'm saying everyone should post on every thread. All of us have different interests and I understand that. I just feel like maybe I could have worded it a way that would have opened up a subject more. Maybe I could have made it more approachable and received comments that wouldn't necesarily answer my questions directly, but give me information that might help me in making a decision on my refinancing.

People respect me? Can I get that in writing w/ your John Hancock so I can show this to DH and kids? I see what you're saying as I can see universal subjects/feelings in others' threads, too. The thing you need to realize is that I have started a lot of threads and although it may seem like I am good at getting people to talk - there are just as many or even more that don't get a response at all. I just think it's the number of threads I've started that is deceiving. But hey, I'm not complaining. I love that someone will respond at all to something I've written. Thanks for the insight - I'll keep it in mind in starting new ones. In response to your last comment about the refinancing thread - I have noticed that when I start a thread that clearly says nobody knows anything about the subject I start another one from a different angle or even a few steps back from what I was asking originally - if I really want to know something about it, that is. If I don't care I drop the subject. Not that I think you care, but I'll tell you for me, I didn't respond to it because I, 1) don't know why I would refinance (benefits of), 2) don't know anything about the percentage rates and haven't put too much thought in how they affect me for such a long period of time, so therefore, 3) it was intimidating to me and too much for me to wrap my head around. In other words, I am totally and completely undeducated on the matter. Hope this makes sense. Last edited by 5ft Diva; 03-05-2008 at 11:25 AM.

I have been trying to come up with a new angle. I do appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts about why you had no comment. It has given me a little insight and maybe now I'll have what I need for my new angle.

Oh, and if BS were to add anything it would be to keep your posts short. He says a long post kills a thread faster than anything. (I'm so guilty of this.)
