How To: Blogging

Ok, since this blogging thing seems to be taking off a little bit, I thought I should start a thread to explain a little bit of how it works.

First off, No one has a blog unless you create one. So just because you aren't listed doesn't mean you can't create one, because anyone who is a member can create one.

The first step is to Create your blog. When you create your blog, all you are doing is creating a listing on the blog page that will show your name etc.

To create your blog if you don't have one already do the following:

1. On the lower menu bar, click on the Blogging menu.
2. From the menu select "Setup Your Own Blog"

This will take you to a page where you will complete basic information about your blog.


I like to leave the Title as the default.
Fill in the description with whatever you want, but it's just a description of your blog, it's not an entry. And that's about it. Click Save Settings and you'll be taken back to the main blog screen.

From there, click on your blog, which will take you into your blog, where you can start blogging.

To start your first entry, locate the Blog Tools Menu and click on it.



Once you click on it, you will choose "Create New Entry" which will take you to a page where you can start your blog. The rest is pretty self explanatory, but if you have questions, please let me know.

What do you click on to respond/make a comment on someone's blog???

The box is ready for you to respond. Just start typing and the post it.

Yep, if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you'll see the quick entry, or if you click on the "entry tools" drop down at the top of the blog it will let you comment with a normal box too.

Big Sissy, Is there a way to make my Blog private, in that only I can see it? I thought that that was what I was doing with my "Revamping my Marathon Training" entry---by clicking on the Private category.

Putting it in the private category only files it as private. It doesn't hide it as you can see.

However, if you will go to the blog you want private, and click on "Entry Tools" you should see an option that says "Set as Private" click that and it will be private.

I'll warn you though, Diva can see private entries due to the access she has. Hopefully the next version of the blog software will allow me to tune the permissions so no one but those you want to see private entries will see them.

Let me know if you can't see the Set as Private and I'll take care of it for you.

Also, when creating your blog entry you can check the box near the bottom to set it to private as well. You should be able to edit your blog and set it that way as well.

Okay this question may sound alittle computer illit. but what is blogging and what is it used for?

Blogging is basically a tool for keeping an on-line journal but it's different for everyone. It's pretty cool. If there's something you want to share w/ everyone but it not necessarily "forum" material, then blog it. If you've read some of the blogs here then you can see how different people have used their blogs.

Just use the bars at the top and click on blogging and play around w/ it. To create an entry I just click on 'create a new entry' and I go to town. Hope that answered your question.
