How To: Navigate Around BnS

Okay, over the past few weeks I've talked to some of you and I've been informed that it's a little difficult for a newbie to navigate around here if not familiar w/ a forum so I was hoping you guys could help a little. Some specific things that were mentioned were what do the acronyms stand for? How do you figure out what to read first? How do you get around w/out getting lost? How do you get around w/out getting sidetracked?

Those are some specific things that I can think of at the moment. I'm sure you've talked to some people who have expressed some of the same concerns. I thought I would write something up but then I thought it would be cool if there were tips on here from everybody about how you navigate around here and then those who are new can just pick and choose what works best for them. Sound good?

For me I do the following:

I get on the first page and I just click on all of the posts that I haven't read before that I'm interested in. I've been a member of BnS long enough by now that I can tell if the thread interests me. If not then I just skip it. That saves me quite a bit of time.

For those who are brand spanking new, I just go to the forums, open each one and pick and choose what I want to read. It may take some time (a week or two) to read through everything if you're wanting to do that and that's okay. Take your time. Sorry, if this isn't very helpful, it's just what works for me. Hope the next person who posts is more helpful than me.
