I'm looking for a long black skirt I can wear to church. I keep looking at the local thrift store and at Walmart but I'm not seeing anything I like. I am wearing my maternity skirt still and it's just too big now and my pre-pregnant skirts are all too small. I just need something that can hold me over for a few months until I can drop this baby weight. I'm not one to shop so I like to know what I want and where it is so I can get in and out in 5 min. Can anyone point me to the right store?

Have you considered ordering online at JCPenney.com or Oldnavy.com, Sears.com, or another mail order company? You can usually view the product you are interested online, find the sizing chart, order what you want, and have it sent to your doorstep. Oh yea, check out the sale items as well.

Hey 5ft D have you ever thought about just making one. Nice fabric in black shouldn't be to hard to find and a basic elastic band skirt is not hard to put together at all. I have done it in one afternoon and could share a pattern with you. (I think. It might be at my mom's, but I will be out there this weekend and could grab it for you.)

Well, I'd want it to end up looking like a skirt.

You are too funny. It is not really hard at all. If you can use a pair of scissors and run a straight line on the sewing machine then a skirt would be a cinch. This one pattern I have there is only a front and a back so all you have to do is cut out the same piece twice and sew them together and then make a casing for your elastic and run it through and then hem. There is not even a front and a back so you just make sure when you wear it your seams are on either side and ta-da, beautiful.

Cool! Thanks for the info! You may want to wait on that ta-da, beautiful part though. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We're talking about the lady that says you should just staple everything when it comes to mending.
