| Acknowledging others is just common courtesy. I feel it says to them, "You exist." I remember as a youth catching someone's eye who was coming my way and sometimes being too afraid to say hi and instead looked down at the ground because I wasn't feeling so great about myself and now wonder how that must have made that person feel. I know there are times I've been in the store and saw someone and just pretended they weren't there and how that must have made them feel. How do you feel when others don't acknowledge you and you know that they know you're there? Are you numb to it or do you feel anything? Why, as a people, do we treat each other this way? |

| For me most often it boils down to be embarrassed that I can't remember their stinking name |
