Today I had to run 10 miles, and the weather was awful. Before I left, I was complaining about it to my husband. Sometimes it has been hard, with both of us training for a marathon at the same time. I let him go running in the morning, and then I try to fit my run in somewhere. I am used to planning exactly when I am going to run, but recently it has all been up in the air. And the last couple of days, the weather has been yucky. I whined about all of this to my husband. He felt bad, so when I was half way done with my run, he pulled up in the car with the kids. He brought a bag full of GU and snacks, a bottle of water, and a thermos of hot chocolate. He even had the heat going in the car, because he figured I would be cold (it was alternating between pouring rain, snowing, and once in a while it stopped). Before he came to meet me, he had the kids pick out a book to read, so that after they met me the first time, they could drive two more miles down the road and wait for me. My husband totally brightened my day!

I am so impressed. That took a little bit of planning and then doing. That is totally sweet - what a great guy. Thanks for sharing your moment; it helps me think of simple ways in which I can be a better wife. Last edited by 5ft Diva; 05-05-2007 at 09:16 PM.

Sheesh, that's awesome! He really knows how to make the rest of us look bad. Seriously, that's awesome on his part.

What a great guy!! Scott can be like that at times, I remember one time, after we lost our second baby, he stayed home from work, took care of the kids, and let me sleep the whole day and just be lazy. He really took care of me and I really did appreciate that one day. Now if he'd made "Hot Chocolate" that would have been great, but cold milk worked just fine. Husbands are wonderful. What would we do without them, I'd go "nuts". laundrygirl

Wow!!! How thoughtful is that?!!! My goodness, what a great guys you have there! I’m going to toss my husband’s hat in the ring here as being the best as well. (Remember we can all win) Okay here’s what happened. My husband travels all over the world. My DH rarely ever buys anything for himself….but his pride and joy is his passport. In his passport are cool stamps with visa’s to places all over the world, and stamps from customs agents from all the different countries he has entered and exited. Well, guess who was in such a hurry to do laundry that she tossed his shirt into the wash without checking inside the pocket?!! YEP that would be me!!! His precious passport was in the pocket and went right through the wash and was destroyed. OH how my heart sunk when I pulled the pieces of the passport out of the washing machine. My DH rarely gets upset. But when I told him what happened and showed him the washed up passport…upset was written all over his face! I immediately burst into tears as I felt SO horrible. He hugged me and forgave me right away and said never mind, don’t worry about it, and in fact he even then put the blame back on himself for not taking it out of his pocket himself. What a great, loving and forgiving guy I have married. I am SO grateful for him!

Would you 2 quit it already. If 5ft Diva reads this stuff I'm DOOMED! Great guy BTW, but it doesn't hurt that you didn't try and hide it either. Maturity has its advantages

Mamallama, I was also impressed with how sweet your hubby was for your birthday. He called me to find out where Ossine was, and asked me questions about what they do there. He had wanted to surprise you. I thought it was so sweet that he came up with all of that on his own!

Oh ML, that's such a cute story - but it just breaks my heart (for both of you). I can imagine myself doing the same thing. You try to be so careful with the washing machine 'beast' and [unfortuntely] mishaps are just inevitable. Too bad it involved something so precious, though! I'm a sentimental person and I can imagine the devestation of losing something like that. With perspective you see that things are just things, and it really doesn't matter, ultimately. But 'perspective' can be hard to have in the heat of the moment. So, I truly loved hearing about his immediate forgiveness! And RAR - you're husband is just so sweet. That definitely DID take some thought and action and it shows how much you are loved and honored (and it wasn't even Mother's Day, yet - BONUS). I'm certain you've done your own "best wife in the world" acts of love for him as well. And ML, I'm sure you've shown true love and forgiveness when the rolls were reversed. Usually grand acts of love and kindness are a two-way street. I definitely learn by the good examples of the people around me!

I do, too. Thanks for sharing that awesome story, ML. Both of these examples inspire me to be a better spouse. I appreciate the positive influence you (and your husband's) have had on me.
