In the next few weeks my life is going to be "controlled" by the circumstances in it. When this happens I tend to get into my "get it done" mode and worry more about checking things off the list than caring about the people I'm checking those things off for. (Kind of like the stress that comes with getting ready for a long family vacation, planning the class party, and being asked to teach a class in about a month for a group of women. I know you can all relate to this!) So this begs the question: Is it bad that I put the administrative things before people when life gets crazy like this? If so, how do I show concern for the people in my life when the myriad of deadlined tasks coming up need my immediate attention?

LOL I am SO with you, my friend. You should receive in the mail (I sent it yesterday) an article from BYU Today that I believe might be one answer to your question. You'll probably get it Monday. The short answer is the article's title "Fact to Face Leadership". Essentially it means taking the time to listen and meet the needs of those you serve by leading. Does all your planning and administrative work meet their needs because you've taken the time to know their needs?...is the question I think the article will bring up. Could it be that part of their needs might be helping you in your administrative actions? Just a thought. I hope the article helps you!

You are always so good at putting things into their proper perspective and asking provoking questions. I'm so glad you're my friend! I did get your letter today and I'm really excited to read it. Thanks so much for thinking of me! You're the best.
