I have been really sick this week with a cold and I am happy to report that I'm on the mend now. I would love to get rid of my congestion very quickly and in a way that is safe for my baby. I plan on asking my doctor for suggestions, but you guys are all so knowledgeable when it comes to your health that I thought I'd ask you, too. What I have been doing is drinking lots and lots of water during the day and sleeping with a humidifier at night. The water helps to keep things loose (sorry if that sounds gross) and also to help me stay hydrated and the humidifier helps to loosen up the congestion while I'm sleeping but these methods are not helping me get rid of it and that's what I'd like to see happen. Any suggestions??? Last edited by 5ft Diva; 02-08-2008 at 10:46 PM.

Diva, DH has an excellent safe cold remedy. I have had a really bad cold with each of my pregancies. The first time he made it for me, I sweat all night long, and woke up feeling amazing. The other times I have gotten relief, but it has never worked as well as the first. I believe the trick is to drink it all as fast as you can and bundle yourself up and go straight to bed. It can taste kind of nasty and after the first time I would tend to sip, instead of gulp. Here is the recipe. 1 whole lemon chopped 1 c water 1 T olive oil Bring all ingredients to a boil and simmer for a couple of minutes. Pour through a stainer. You can add honey if you need to sweeten it. Drink it quickly as soon as it reaches a tolerble temperature. Put on your warmest pj's with a couple of pairs of socks, even a hat if you can stand it. Wrap yourself in a warm blanket and go to bed. Don't be afraid to sweat. It is the sweat that helps. I don't know how it works, I just know it does. You need to sweat in order for it to work the best. Dia

It has worked for me. I don't know where it came from exactly, but when he was in Brazil he was constantly fighting sinus infections, because of the pollution. One of his companions suggested he do this and it worked. Dia
