How much should I tip?

I just went and got my hair cut!

I wasn't sure if I tipped the right amount or not. Do you figure out the tip for a hair cut the same way you'd figure it out for food or is it different?

Well to be completely honest I didn't always tip!

I just think I pay so much for he haircut already I can't give out anymore. That sounds bad!

But... That was before I was married. I used to pay a lot more for my hair cut. Now I go over to fantastic sams or great clips and I think they deserve it. They can't possibly make a ton of money without tips. So I try to pay at least 20%. That usually puts my cost at 4 to 5 dollars below an expensive cut.

I've got a TIP for you. Just cut your own hair. I do and I think I do a fine job

No, no, seriously, Don't do it. No clue what to tip either as I've not spent much time in a salon.

I was thinking along the lines of 20% too. It's nice to know I'm not off by too much.
