My understanding is they are simply a higher dose multi-vitamin. They are also specific to the needs of a growing child in the womb.

I doubt they would hurt you, but unless you can read what the content of the pills are (see the label, and see the amounts of the different minerals/vitamins), I don't think I would take them. Or if you do, only take half of what it suggests.

I know we have some pre-natal vitamins in the cupboard, I'll have to read the label and see what it says.

I would recommend you ask a doctor or a nutritionist- taking too many vitamins not only doesn't help your body, but can make you sick to your stomach, so it depends on what the dosage is of the vitamins you're looking at and whether you really need that much of each.

Thanx for your response to my question here. Did additional research on this, but had no luck with it. Don't worry I only 2 kinds of vitamins when I remember to take them.

So, Jessica, have you decided to take them? If so, have you felt sick from taking them at all? And....have you found a prenatal that you really like? I'm in the search for a good multi-vitamin myself.

I've been taking prenatal vitamins whenever i remember to and i take two tablets daily - one contains fish oil and that one really causes heartburn and i can constantly taste fish the entire night after taking it.. would it be terrible if i stopped taking the tablet with fish oil and continue with the other one? i should ask my dr this but im too lazy to call

Try taking the fish oil with food. It should help with the fishy taste.
