[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I thought with all the recent threads on finances, somebody might find this interesting. I always knew there was a connection. It all comes down to immediate gratification. Being overweight and being in a lot of debt both occur when we are in search of something RIGHT NOW. Whether we got to eat it right now or buy it right now, it is the same principle. When Elder and I established a new budget recently I was having a hard time comprehending it all. It wasn't until it hit me that it was just like my weight loss plan that I was able to figure it out. In very simplified terms: You can't spend more then you make or you end up with debt. You can't eat more calories than you use, or you gain weight. Since I have realized this staying under budget has been so much easier. Anyone else have any thoughts? Dia

This is a great thought, Dia. I don't have any time to write about it now but I'll come back and enter my thoughts later. I will tell you one thing that I learned last week that you just stated here. It goes something like: the way we do anything is the way we do everything. I can't wait to check out that site and tell you my thoughts. See ya!

What an amazing connection!! I love how the article states that it's all about choice.....how we choose to spend our money, what we choose to eat....we then have to live with the consequences of what we have chosen. Basically then, we are what we have chosen to become.... These thoughts seem to connect into about every aspect of our life. We live in a society of instant gratification, which leads to unhealthy bodies, debt over our heads, and dying spirituality---But the Lord teaches us to work on improving ourselves line upon line, starting with the spiritual side and we often don't see immediate results----it takes a lot of patience and self discipline to overcome spiritual weaknesses and to strengthen our spirit---just like eating the right foods & the right amount of food and exercising takes patience and self discipline, And so does the saving our money & spending within our means----takes a lot of patience and self discipline. But what wonderful consequences there are from making the choice to discipline ourselves in all areas of our lives. Self discipline leads us to spiritual strength and more spiritual freedom, healthier bodies and more physical freedom, higher self-esteem and more emotional freedom, and money in the bank and more financial freedom. What a cool thought you shared here Dia!! Thanks. Great food for thought!!

I thought this was very interesting. I think I tend to be inpatient when it comes to results. I am trying to be more patient in getting results. Thanks for the info.

...wow... Isn't it amazing how some things taken separately don't mean much but you bring them all together and you get some fantastic meaning out of them? This was a really interesting article for me. It connects together a couple of different things going on in my life. I've been wondering of late if/how work in one area teaches us to be better in another area. I've been conducting an experiment on myself for the past couple of months to see how this might be true....following one rule with perfect exactness to understand and train myself to follow other rules with perfect exactness. The one rule I chose is the speed limit. It's a very tangible, easy to monitor rule. You are reminded of it everytime you get in the car so you get daily practice. As I carefully monitor my speed limit, I wonder if it will help me to carefully monitor other, not so easy to monitor areas of my life. Oddly enough, it's been food that has seemed to be the thing that I can monitor better. While I haven't lost any obvious weight, I know my eating habits are more controlled and careful...just like my driving. Training ourselves in one area can help to train ourselves in other areas...is the lesson I guess I take from this. The metamorphosis discussion seemed to come to a similar conclusion. Cool thoughts, Dia!

I loved this. Thanks for sharing the link Dia and thanks everybody else - for your thoughts, too. I found the part in Suze's interview about Valuing yourself to be especially profound. When she talked about how you can tell how much a person values themselves by the decisions they make (in every aspect of life), it was eye-opening. Great stuff!
