Default Eating Breakfast before workouts

Dear Finnican,
I wanted to know if it is important to eat breakfast before doing aerobics or other morning workouts and if so, how much time should I have between breakfast and the workout to prevent stomach aches or side aches. I currently have been eating breakfast after the morning work out. Is it okay to wait and eat afterwards? Please let me know. Thanks Lostnfound.

Before exercising it's a very important thing to have something. A protein shake, fruit smoothie, oatmeal, granola bar, or even just a cup of juice if your in a hurry. My preferred meal is something warm and full of complex carbs. these carbs are slow burning. offering more energy for a longer period of time.

If your body don't have fuel (energy) it will start to take immediete energy from the muscles and liver (liver stores some immediete energy). Your body needs to warm up before a workout so the energy in the muscles can assist in burning the fat. If you don't have immediete energy in your muscles to burn the fat then your results will be lessened.

When you exercise you will need energy. If your energy is going to the stomach to digest food you will get sick or have pains.

You get side aches from doing your workout with to strong of an intensity. And sometimes from not working out. some people get it more than others. If you eat a big meal and you workout a bit later then probably you will get a stomach ache. a good rule is about 2 hours after a big meal and 30 minutes to an hour after a smaller one.

Yes, thanks Finnican. This was great information. Can't wait to do a little research on complex carbs. I appreciate you feeding us this information a little at a time. I have sat down in classes before and was given this information but never quite understood it because it was given with a bunch of other information so it was too much at one time. Thanks for your help.
