Does anyone have any suggestions or things that work for them in making sure they get all the water you need during the day. I know I'm supposed to drink 8 - 8 oz. glasses of water everyday, but most days I'm lucky to get to 6 glasses. Water just doesn't taste good to me and so I have a hard time getting what I know I'm supposed to get. So any suggestions, recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Guess what? 64oz isn't quite enough. The Harvard School of public Health says this:

Wondering how much water or other beverages you should drink a day? The Institute of Medicine's Food and Nutrition Board gives the following general recommendations for water consumption: Women generally need to consume 91 ounces of water each day from beverages and foods, while men generally need to consume 125 ounces each day. People typically obtain about 80 percent of their water from beverages (including beverages that contain caffeine) and 20 percent of their water from foods. So for women, that translates into drinking 9 8-oz. glasses of water or other beverages each day and obtaining another 18 ounces of water from foods; for men, that translates into drinking roughly 12 8-oz. glasses of water or other beverages each day, and obtaining another 25 ounces of water from foods.
It's on the page about fiber: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
The other indicator is the color of your ...ahem... output. It should be nearly clear. Once it starts getting yellowish, you're dehydrated. I got that from a registered dietician friend who many of us know/knew. So first...up your goal to the right amount for good health.
Then, here's how I do it. I keep a glass by the kitchen sink...a 16oz glass. Whenever I'm in the kitchen, I guzzle the complete glass. I'm to the point now where I can drink the whole thing without breathing. The faster you drink it the faster you don't have to drink anymore. Make it a race to see how much you can get down. I also go straight from the bathroom (which I visit reasonably often due to the amount of water I drink) straight to the kitchen sink and guzzle a drink right after.
I think water is one of those things that once you get used to having, you develop a taste for, but then I've always liked a good cool drink of water over anything else. I drink at least 7 16oz glasses a day.
Another thing I've taken up with my increased exercise is drinking half powerade/half water after my workouts. I need the electrolyte boost, but I don't like the full version of the powerade...too sweet and sticky. I don't mind it diluted and it does flavor the water slightly. You might try that...flavored water...for some of the water intake you should be doing.
I like to drink two glasses of water with each meal. I also get a drink right before I go to bed. Then I get in at least one or two more glasses in the middle of the day. I love water.
I agree with Erudite, if you don't really crave water, then you're not drinking enough of it. As soon as you start drinking it for a week or so, you'll start to want it, and enjoy drinking it.
I don't drink enough either, but I have a 52oz mug that I fill every day and I usually drink at least that at my desk, plus the milk and other drinks I might have during meals.
Oh and it's got to be cold for me, or I don't care too much for it.
