I went to the doctor's today for other reasons and found out that I reached my goal. My goal was to get under 200 lbs by my birthday. I did it today. 199. Good news for me and I still have four more days to lose even more.

Thanks 5D. Yes, I am a February baby too. Isn't yours on the 28th? Hopefully your hubby will be there. I know he is traveling here soon. Josh will be gone on mine this weekend but that is okay. Big Sissy- Thank you. I have to make a new goal now.

Ima, Congratulations. Keep going, you can do it. It looks like we are on the same goal setting page. I reward myself with a little something every ten pounds. It sure makes the long haul a lot easier when you have something to look forward to. Dia

Dia- thanks for the helpful knowledge. Every ten pounds huh? I was wondering what to do for my next goal. The trainer that helped me the first time said to get my sights on 176. I don't know...sounds like too big of a goal right now to me. I swear he gave me a funny analogy about working out so hard and it not coming off right away. He told me to picture a big ship (I think he was referring to me as a big ship??? 5D- So glad he was around for yours. I seriously don't even care if I celebrate this year. I am too busy and people's schedules are really hectic. I was bummed at first that Josh was gone but I can handle it.

Ima, That sounds about right. Usually a good first goal is 10% of your body weight. He could be going by that. By just loosing 10% your body can become so much healthier. I have heard of people who have been on medication for blood pressure, cholesterol, or diabetes that have been able to get off it after losing 10%. I chose 10 lbs, after my initial 10%, because I tend to bulk every time I hit a number with a 0 on the end. I know it's dumb, but it helps if I have a reward to look forward to when I break past that 0. I don't quite get the big boat thing, however, I do know that when you first start excersising your body starts storing water. Something along the lines of making sure it has enough to supply it through all the hard work if it doesn't get enough. So just make sure your drinking your water and it will flush out and even out in a couple of weeks. The same with eating. Make sure your eating enough. Some people tend to go into a diet mode and start to starve their bodies without realizing it. The body then panics and quits losing weight, becaue it thinks it isn't going to be getting enough nutrients. Of course, you want to make sure your extra calories are coming from healthy choices. Keep up the good work. Dia

What an awesome response, so many supporters for you. Congratulation!!! Doesn't it feel wonderful when you accomplish something, even as small as losing weight, I know it's hard to do, but when it's done (even a little bit) it feels AWESOME, and you did this for you and not for others. Again, congratulations. laundrygirl
