Okay so I have been working my butt off to get in shape but for some reason I feel like I am gaining! My husband suggested I might be pregnant (NO!!! Not yet!). I have only been doing aerobics for 3 weeks and walking for 2 but you would think I would feel leaner?? I do feel more energetic so that is a positive thing. My husband tells me I need to focus on the positives and the results will soon follow. How do I keep my focus on exercising and not just to lose weight?

Measure yourself. I am exersizing and dieting. The scale is not always acuate. But if you measure your arms, legs (calves and thighs), bust, waist, and hips you may feel better about yourself. Also I think there is a time period that you will feel more worn out until your body becomes used to the dieting and exersizing. Good luck don't give up! Even if you are prego keep up your stuff. It will be healthy for you and the baby.

Thanks for the encouragement! I actually thought about going and buying measuring tape today. I think that's what I need because I am sure I have lost some I just can't see it from the mirror. I am starting to feel like I am getting over the exhausted part and now am feeling more alert and capable of taking on more. It would be a great thing to have another baby but I don't think I am ready yet. We'll see

I definitely like to see the pounds slide off when I'm working my rear off, but one of the things that I'm really trying to focus on is health. Sure I want to look fabulous (not sure I remember what that is) but my bigger concerns now are the health issues that my weight causes. Maybe that is because I feel like I'm nearing middle age (dang that sounds old). I've noticed a lot of issues that I feel are definitely related and worsened by my weight and that scares me much more than looking in the mirror. I also believe (and I think that I've mentioned this before) that as we focus on health it is a better way of teaching our kids. And I do believe that being physically fit is a huge part of health.

For me, it's focusing on a goal. As you know, I'm training for a 5K. I have to have written goals for the week, and the program already has them so I just printed them, and then I just gauge myself according to how I'm doing according to the goals. Maybe you need goals. Like, is there anything you'd like to improve in for the week? Make like a month's worth of goals, or even make as many goals for how long you think it would take you to get the weight off and focus on those goals instead of the weight and before you know it, you've lost the weight. Does this make sense?

Along the same lines as Diva about setting goals; WW has another tool for living that helps you set and manage your goals. Essentially it is setting little goals that can be acheived in a short amount of time that keep you motivated to continue until you reach your bigger harder to reach goal. This is the quote that goes wuth it: "All good work is done the way that ants do things: little by little." Lafcadio Hearn

So I shared with you what WW says and failed to share with you what I do, which probably would be more help. My goal is to reach a certain weight. I know in order to do this I need to eat right and excercise. So I set my "Winning Outcome" which is to weigh _ _ _. In order to do this I set a goal to follow my food plan. This is still a pretty big goal that can take several weeks to master so I break it down again. This week I am going to write down everything I eat. Next week I will get in my eight fruits and veggies at least 5 days. The third week I might set a goal to get in my 2t healthy oils every day, or take my multi-vitamin. Then comes exercise. So my goal is to excercise at least 40 mins. 4 times a week. (Three times a week for fitness, more for weight loss.) I'm still on baby time. So it doesn't work for me to say I'm going to work out at 7:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. So I just set out to excercise every day, but because my goal is only 4 days a week, if "baby time" happens instead of workout then I can still reach my goal. Also, instead of doing one 40 min tape, I do two 20 min tapes. That way if "baby time" happens, in the middle of my workout, then I can finish the first tape, take care of the baby and then do the second. By doing it this way I have set myself up for success and ruled out several possibilities for failure. On a little side note with the excersise I also set goals to increase my intensity of a certain workout. For example, I have a workout tape I consider a base level one. However, by concentrating on each move and concentrating on each used muscle I can easily bring it up to a level 3 or even 4. 5 being the highest. Then I have a workout that would be considered a base level 3 with the possibility of a level 5. So I started out with two base level ones and increased both of those to a 3 before adding a base level 3 and am now increasing it to a five. Does this make any sense? Anyway, by setting up my goals like this it really helps me concetrate on the healthy eating and the excersising for better health then the actual weight loss. Losing the weight is just a measurement to me. It's not that I want to weigh _ _ _. I just want the benefits that come with being at that healthy weight.

I think Dia and Diva hit the nail on the head. You may or may not have seen my thread about the laws of attraction, but regardless, if you focus on your weight, it won't go anywhere but up. You absolutely NEED to focus on being positive and thinking positive thoughts. You are what you think you are. You also WILL become what you think you are, so thinking positive is paramount. Of couse you still have to do the work, but being positive will make all that hard work turn your figure into the one you dream it to be. DO NOT discount your thoughts about yourself and your weight. Your brain needs to get on board or your body WILL NOT follow. I hope that makes sense, and sorry if this came across as preachy, as that's not my intention, I just know you are working hard, and I WANT you to succeed, and I KNOW you can and will!
