| So many times we stress over our dirty homes, our jobs, commitments that we have made to our communities and/or churches and even to extended family that we may forget what's really important. In light of our hilarious Flylady Confessions and Elder Ballard's talk (and possibly Sister Lant's as well) I'm hoping we can put all of that in perspective with this thread. There's a poem that has the lines in it: The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep! I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep. What are the things you do that says, "I'm rocking my baby,"? |

| Last night I actually rocked my 2 year old to bed instead of the usual putting him back in bed every time he gets out only to hear him cry. I was so happy to take the time to do that w/ him. I also just sat and watched movies w/ my kids the other day and we didn't answer the phone when it rang. We decided to dedicate the day to us as a family. I chose not to hound my kids to clean that day because the opportunity to just hang out w/ them doesn't come around very often anymore. The house work did get done, just not as thoroughly as it usually does. |

| We spent HOURS watching home videos the other day. It was so much fun! We should have been cleaning the house, grocery shopping, making dinner, etc. It was worth it. |

| I spend hours doing homework with my 11yods each day. I read to my 5yods in bed each night and then listen to his prayers. I make a hot breakfast for my family each weekday so that they go off to school with good things in their tummies. We pray together as a family twice a day and read scriptures (do you know how funny it is that God sent cute happy little ribbiting frogs as a plague on the Egyptians?) I watch Star Trek re-runs with my kids. K...I needed this list. I recently was praying about the pieces of my life (see my blog) and one of the answers was that I need to spend more time with my kids and THAT was part of what my life should look like. I feel pretty good about the above list, but clearly I could spend more time with my DDs. PS I just went to build a tent in the basement with my 7yodd! | I am slowly beginning to understand why the youngest is spoiled and does not mature as quickly as, let's say the oldest. Not that I didn't understand this concept before, I just always thought I wouldn't let it happen. I guess, in a way, I never believed that I would some day have a youngest. That somehow I would always have one more. Now that my youngest is almost two and I'm not pregnant, reality has sunk in. I still rock her to sleep, most naps and some nights, when daddy is not home to put her to bed. It doesn't bother me, as much as it did with the others, when she comes and climbs into my bed in the middle of the night. |
