Default Baby Names

I started to post this on rar's thread, but decided to start a new one because I didn't want to hijack a good thing. BS has suggested a name for our baby and because I can't think of anything else that he likes as well I've kind of given up.

Having said this, I'm interested in names that mean 'Gift' or 'Gift from God' or possibly 'Precious' or something along these lines. I've looked online and can't find anything I like and so I'm turning to you guys to see if you have any suggestions. Let me know if you come up w/ anything.

I'm probably going to have the baby the second week in March so any of your suggestions would be appreciated before then. (But no pressure - really.)

I once told your neighbor down the street that her son's name "Boone" was such a good name because it means "blessing" or "advantage". She rolled her eyes, and said if she'd known that's what it meant, she might not have named him that....he was 11 at the time, I think and we all know how 11yos are. So there's one.

"David" means beloved. And if you make it Davidel you have "beloved of God". LOL

Matthew means "gift of God"
Nathanael means "God has given"
Timothy means "honored of God"

I couldn't find any girl names.

When my dad died I was nine months pregnant with my third. At the time we did not know he was a boy, but we knew we wanted to name him after my dad, David. We thought about naming him Davinha if he was a girl. Meaning little David in Portuguese. Not that Portuguese names mean much to you, but you could just about take any boy name and make it girly. Before we had Levi Matthew, I thought that we could name a girl Matilda, or Mattison after her dad. I knew a girl named Timony. I still believe you are having a girl.

I look forward to discussing these "feelings" w/ all of you who think I'm having a girl once the baby comes. I really have no idea one way or another so for me this is fun to hear you predicting when it's a real feeling you're getting. (Wishful thinking doesn't count.)

Nope, it is a feeling. Of course it could be partially wishful thinking.

I'm wishful thinking for a girl too, 5D!

And since you said you liked "Caroline", I found that in the french it means "song of happiness". That's a little like "gift from God". But I can see how it doesn't exactly fit into the other names in your family, which BS must have liked. I'll keep thinking with you!

How about something musical like "Melody"? Or "Aria"? "For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart..." D&C 25:12

I love the name "Caroline". When I had my fourth that was the name my oldest came up with. She actually called me at the hospital as soon as she had gotten home from church and said she had heard the most beautiful name in church today. It was Caroline. We didn't use it, but she did name the doll she got for Christmas that year "Caroline".

I'm gonna say no to those, E, for personal reasons....you know the ones where you knew someone w/ that name so now it's ruined....

Sorry to be so superficial.

No worries. I'd never name a child "Steve" for the same reasons though I have a BIL named Steve who is perfectly nice.

You know someone named Aria? Wow. I thought I was being unique. Well, it's fun to just toss them out.

I love the name Matthew! That is what we would have named this baby if it was a boy. And of course, you know that I like the name David! Here are a few girl names;
Jana-God's gracious gift
Janae- form of Janet, God's gracious gift
Janet- God's gracious gift

It's fun seeing what different names mean. I never would've put that w/ the word pearl. Thanks, Dia.

Ok, I came across a kinda fun one. How about "Tyrone"? Or "Errol"? Both older names, but not common any more without being weird either. I don't have a clue what they mean...

And if it's a girl...it's Tyrongela...not my fav, but I have a student right now named that.

I am not going to have any more children but I had names for my future children picked out even before I made the decision to not have any more children. There is no great meaning behind the names I just really loved each one.

If I were to have a girl her name would have been: Tiegan or Chandler

If I were to have a boy his name would have been: Garen or Brighton

I love to ski and had the name of Brighton picked out a long time ago. I thought it was an original name but low and behold when we moved to Tooele my son met his soon to be best friend and wouldn't you know his name was Brighton. I guess it isn't as original as I had thought. Oh well I still like it all the same.

Just thought I would share.

I had a friend who named her baby girl Teagan. I assume it would be pronounced the same asTiegan. I thought it was very creative. It was actually a last name she discovered somewhere in her family history. I really liked it. LNF, where did you come by it?

Holy Cow! Do I see LnF on here? It is so good to hear from you! You've been missed! Hope to see you around here more often.

Oh, and those names are cute.
