So, ladies....and gentlemen, How'd the first week of school go? Was it crazy or pretty uneventful? do your kids like their teachers? Do you like their teachers? Do you get a break with them in school or did it complicate your schedule even more? _______________________________ Normally things are very helter skelter around here the first week, but BS and I went out of town the first two days of school so grandma came and watched the kids for us. In order for everything to run smoothly for her I had to really be on top of things. It made for a very smooth and pleasant transition....especially for me!

It went just great here- I had to go in to both the HS and the jr. high to change my boys' schedules and it went smoothly, without incident. I was very pleasantly surprised at how solicitous the counselors were- I expected it to be much more difficult than it was. Maybe this is because I have good kids? Maybe because I was with them? I don't know, but I was so pleased. The younger kids LOVE their teachers, and I am happy with them as well. DD's teacher is wonderful and exactly what I was hoping for- DS's, also- perfect fit for him! So happy... after last year, this is a major relief! I started school as well, the same week, but it hasn't been as bad as I expected it to be. I do have a fair amount of homework coming, but I'm only taking two classes at a time, so I think I can handle it.

I'm feeling like there was no transition. I'm not sure if that is good or bad, because it's like the school year is old already and we haven't established anything new or better. I like starting new things, because it gives me an opportunity to start fresh. I think because we are in the process of "moving" and haven't actually moved yet, that this feeling will change once we finish "the move". Other than that, my kids like their teachers. So far I like their teachers. My schedule is more complicated, because of kindergarten pickup, which seems like should only take a few minutes, but doesn't. Although I do love that I have to go get her, because it forces me out of the house even when I'm not feeling like getting out. I love having a few hours with just my youngest and then those few hours with my kindergartener before the other kids come home.

Things have gone much smoother than I anticipated. We leave at 7:30 or so to drop off DS at junior high, then DD1 at the charter school. Then I return home so DD2 can catch the bus to elementary school. It makes for a lot of driving for DD2 in the morning, but I can't leave her home alone while I drive the others. Hopefully, I won't have to do so much driving once we find a home and get settled. I'm also praying that DD2 gets into the charter school soon so there's one less schedule to worry about--and one less transition she'd have to make when we move. I'm very proud of us all for having been on time every day! (Those of you who know me know this is a major accomplishment.) To make things easier for all of us, the kids take school lunch--and love it--and I usually drive the kids to school in my pjs! =)
